Reporting to the Managing Director an opportunity exists for a driven and task focussed Development Manager to help deliver the company’s key-dates and critical business milestones.

Reporting to the Managing Director an opportunity exists for a driven and task focussed Development Manager to help deliver the company’s key-dates and critical business milestones. The Development Manager will be responsible for two key areas: 1) day to day monitoring, co-ordination and reporting of progress on all planning and technical deadlines 2) for convening and managing all Pre-Planning and Pre-Site Start meetings in line with the company’s operating policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be tasked with ensuring all Key-dates are met and be responsible for Chairing development team meetings as required to ensure delivery.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Managing and updating our Key-dates Schedule for weekly distribution to the senior management team
  • Calling, co-ordinating and chairing Pre-Planning and Pre-Site Start meetings, as necessary, to ensure efficient and timeous development starts are made
  • Liaising with all internal development departments to ensure time scales are met
  • Day to day monitoring of progress, driving of critical information delivery and ownership of project Minute targets to ensure deadlines are delivered
  • Ensuring all Group processes and procedures are adhered to throughout the development process
  • Identifying and recording of all key risks associated with development projects
  • Producing and managing a key risks contingency plan
  • Ensuring development options/considerations are fully appraised before any binding decision is taken, by consulting fully with Land/Commercial/Sales in the process
  • Ensuring project development appraisal is fully updated and re-run on a monthly basis
  • Preparing a concise and accurate board paper on a bi-monthly basis
  • Reporting on a weekly basis to the MD on all aspects of progress and timing issues associated with future site starts and budget goals
  • Responsible for advising on achievable and realistic time scales for the delivery of planning consents, site starts and unit sales for all future development sites and updating budgets/forecasts

Knowledge & Capability:

  • An experienced development or project manager, accustomed to working closely with a diverse team and able to do so harmoniously, whilst achieving key goals
  • A knowledge of the residential planning and development process will be a distinct advantage
  • An ability and willingness to work with the minimum of supervision to achieve very clearly defined KPIs
  • Flexibility and Change Orientation - the ability to grasp problems and issues by breaking them down into their component parts, to solve problems, process information, assess risks, form judgements and develop solutions
