This is a great opportunity for experienced Underwriters to join our growing team.

To accurately assess and document life and disability risks and decide which terms, if any, can be offered up to the following level:

  • Life Sum Assured £600,000 extra mortality +200% and/or 5 per mille.
  • Critical Illness Sum Assured £350,000 extra morbidity +100% and/or impose 2 exclusions.
  • Declining and postponement of life and critical illness benefits.
  • Waiver of Premium: accept or decline.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude to all our customer requirements in an efficient and professional manner to provide exceptional customer experience. Ensure that the agreed service levels are met or exceeded.
  • Understand the commitments that are made about the level of service during the marketing and sales processes to ensure the area is capable of meeting those expectations and that customers’ reasonable expectation of performance and service are met.
  • Take ownership of own self-development so that technical skills, knowledge and ability to perform the underwriting role are developed
  • Ensure appropriate management information is captured and maintained as required, from which accurate communications can be delivered and effective business decisions made.
  • Ensure requests for information are appropriate and commensurate with the risk being assessed.
  • Ensure regulatory CBT’s are completed according to company policy, reviewing and maintaining knowledge as appropriate.

Analysis/Decision Making

  • Analysis and evaluation of risk data.
  • Requesting the correct evidence appropriate to the risk presented.
  • Making accurate decisions within authority.
  • Confident decision making within authority.
  • Show appropriate business judgement and commercial awareness.

Communications

  • Effective written and verbal communication through all media e.g. telephony, letter writing, participation in meetings and forums, presentations.
  • Interacts with colleagues and customers resulting in positive relationships.

Sharing Knowledge

  • Willingness to engage in technical discussions with all colleagues and customers via different media.
  • Provide technical support, coaching, mentoring and feedback for peers and colleagues where appropriate

Initiative and Problem Solving

  • Use initiative to play an active part in team development and self-development.
  • Proactively seek solutions and ideas to help create a cost effective and customer focussed environment
