We have an exciting opportunity for a Pensions Investment Specialist to join our Workplace DC Pensions busines in Cardiff

Using comprehensive LGIM Workplace DC Pensions products, process and technical knowledge, supervise and provide an exceptional service to all internal and external customers, in accordance with all regulatory and legislative requirements.
The role holder is responsible for providing proactive and technical expertise for the end to end processing of a subset of products within a specific team of up to 15 Service Specialists with varying degrees of knowledge and skills. The role holder will also support oversight activities and project manage Bulk Investment projects across all products.
Demonstrate Legal & General behaviours and provide guidance and support to all members of Workplace DC Pensions and its customers, acting as an advocate for the business and demonstrate full role model behaviours at all times in every aspect of the role.

1. Service Proposition

Analyse, project manage and own complex investment transaction processes and tasks, fully resolving and responding to customer enquiries of all levels within service agreements.  Using supported systems, prioritise own work and that of your peers and proactively support your colleagues to meet and where possible exceed service levels, targets and customer expectations. Act as a role model and support the management of your team and bulk investments projects as required

2. Technical Expertise

Acquire, utilise and enhance your own technical expertise and development in product, systems, legislation and processes to the required level within the knowledge and skills matrix. Mentor, oversee and develop colleagues so that they continuously improve both their individual service offering and the LGIM Workplace DC Pensions proposition, ensuring customers and clients are provided with the correct information to manage and plan for retirement. 

3. Innovation

Follow all business processes, by using approved guidance material, analysing feedback on effectiveness and appropriateness updating when necessary. Take ownership of resolving exceptions and identify process improvements, recommending system changes and enhancements in order to reduce our operational costs. Propose and implement enhancements to current processes to mitigate risks and ensure a tight Root Cause effectiveness programme is in place

4. Customer Service and Relationship Management oversight

Supervise and enhance professional working relationships with LGIM and external Clients and advisors by supporting the LGIM Workplace DC Pensions proposition in line with treating customers fairly. Through post project reviews, actively seek out and lead discussions to analyse feedback from all sources. Where failings are identified, feedback to relevant areas and implement changes to be made to achieve customer satisfaction, retention and advocacy

5. Regulatory Controls

Fully understand and ensure the team and department adhere to pension and internal compliance regulations.  Analyse, investigate, interpret and communicate the identification and management of regulatory and financial risks, breaches and complaints..  Ensure the department operates in a compliant manner regarding suspicious transactions

6. Technical Transactions & Communications

Take full responsibility for the servicing of accurate and timely transactions, comply with all regulatory and trustee regulations and ensure money-laundering requirements are met protecting L&G from the risk of financial loss or reputational damage. Provide a technical expertise with consistently high standard of written and verbal response to complex enquiries from the Helpline and Complaints teams

7. Business Analysis

Actively investigate, lead and participate in business issues, divisional wide projects, quality assurance, IT system testing, remedy and internal process reviews. Support internal and external customers to ensure continuous improvements of our service offering to all customers.  Fully understand and support others in the use of all fully supported processes and platforms within the business area. Act as an expert within all product specifications

8. Project Management

Project manage bulk investment projects, managing expectations of all relevant parties (both internal and external). Document plans and timelines, managing through to completion, including all reconciliations and preparations for audit.

9. Investments

Apply detailed knowledge of all funds pricing and mapping across different platforms and products. Use this knowledge of investment switching, blended funds and lifestyle profiles to reduce profit and loss actions occurring in box, during rework, allocation of contributions, claims and transfer projects where relevant to your team. Support other impacted teams and finance in this aim.

10. Team Development

Manage, motivate and develop employees at all levels in a manner that is consistent with the Company’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement, to maximise the performance of the area. Manage progress through relevant examinations to support and provide an appropriately skilled team that can provide subject matter expertise to the business and strengthen the risk management of Bulk Switches

Data Analysis

  • Assessment of transaction method
  • Scheduling bulk and individual investment requests
  • Generating comms data to employers and individual members
  • Understanding member landscape
  • Reconciliation of data pre and post investment management transactions

Data Manipulation & defining requirements of Employers

  • Creating and effecting switch and data file to generate communication to members and employers
  • Print and distribute comms to members and employers
  • Planning & Process Management
  • ‘Project’ oversight of Bulk Switch activity

Stakeholder Management
Engagement with:

  • Employers,Advisors,Corporate EBC's,Relationship and Implementation Managers,Operational Managers and Policyholders.

Other key skills/knowledge include:

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel /Access skills
  • Understanding and manipulation of fund spreadsheets
  • Ability to understand pension contribution cycles and key operating systems, including FPF and SOA
  • Ability to use SQL, Brite and QMF to drive MI reporting
  • People development
  • End-to-end Project Management
