Support the Chief Financial Officer, Insurance and Head of Financial Performance, in managing and optimising the Retail Protection financial results on an ongoing basis and in light of any strategic or regulatory changes to the businesses across all financial measures.

Ensure that the performance of the Insurance business is continuously monitored against key metrics, providing relevant challenge, analysis and insight to support the business whilst ensuring the presentation meets the wide background and experience of the customer base.

Provide commercial support to the Insurance business to ensure effective decision making with respect to commercial arrangements, prospective investments and any M&A activity.

Principal Accountabilities

Support the development of deep financial analytical capability within the Insurance Finance team to support understanding of the key drivers of financial performance. Support the development of financial engineering initiatives to support management of the businesses performance.

Work with Insurance businesses to leverage financial insight and promote appropriate management actions.

Work with the Head of Financial Performance to define, build and refine the reporting and MI capability to ensure robust, accurate and timely financial and product performance data. Undertake formal and timely financial reporting as directed.

Support the Business Planning production ensuring accuracy, clear communication, robust controls and procedures are adhered to and ensuring full alignment with the Group’s Model Risk Control Framework.

Support the development and implementation of new reporting strategies in response to changing business circumstances and strategic initiatives, both commercially and regulatory driven, for example, IFRS17.

Liaise with the Financial Reporting and Operations area to ensure robust and timely production of financial reporting across all metrics

Support continued adherence of the Model Risk Control Framework within the business.

Ensure all analysis, decisions made and activity undertaken in fulfilling of this role considers the fair treatment of our customers.

Develop the team to maximise their professionalism, performance and contribution to the business and support in the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures.

Support the Head of Financial Performance, Insurance in providing technical expertise to assess potential mergers or acquisitions for LGAS to maximise business benefit to all parties and to ensure that the impact of any M&A activity on the financial position of L&G is properly understood and any associated risks are appropriate managed / mitigated.

Strong communication skills (oral/written) including interpersonal skills and relationship building skills

Experience in Life Office financial management / financial reporting experience

Experience of working with a range of Reporting Measures IFRS, Solvency II

Experience of working in Protection and a strong understanding of reinsurance structures

Experience of managing financial reporting change and associated impacts to key financial metrics

Flexibility with the ability to work under pressure and to short and strict deadlines

The ability to work in an ever changing fast paced environment

Ability to work accurately and without errors

Some experience of working with a range of Reporting Measures IFRS, EEV, ICA, Solvency II

This means we would consider a more flexible working arrangement, where your hours and work location are managed according to business, customer and personal needs. For this role, you would be based in our London Office, but you could work in other Legal and General offices or at home, as necessary, provided this meets business needs.
