Lead the development & delivery of a communications consultancy for strategic clients, to produce profitable communications plans to support new business success and the retention and profit targets of existing schemes.  Develop the financial wellbeing proposition ensuring that plans are delivered on time and to budget thereby supporting LGIM with its overall DC sales and retention targets and ambitions.

Purpose:

Lead the development & delivery of a communications consultancy for strategic clients, to produce profitable communications plans to support new business success and the retention and profit targets of existing schemes.  Develop the financial wellbeing proposition ensuring that plans are delivered on time and to budget thereby supporting LGIM with its overall DC sales and retention targets and ambitions.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Direct the delivery of all client employee communications for prospective, new and existing employer and trustee clients whilst managing the expectations of employer, trustee, intermediary and also internal stakeholders
  • Define, develop and lead the delivery of a high quality and engaging employee communications and financial wellbeing strategy, able to flex across a variety of audiences and sectors, in order to achieve an industry leading position
  • Attend external meetings with clients and intermediaries to demonstrate LGIM’s Client Communications capability and proposition.  This will include participation in new business pitches and site visit meetings alongside Head of DC and Head of DC Sales, attendance at new business implementation meetings where prompt and correct interpretation of requirements is key, and at existing business client review meetings
  • In support of Distribution colleagues, the pension communication strategy of the client and LGIM’s longer term client retention ambitions, manage and develop strong working relationships with C suite and other pensions, HR and communications colleagues at designated employer and trustee clients as required
  • Represent the LGIM DC Client Communications team at meetings with senior internal stakeholders such as internal communications forums, project and steering group meetings and work effectively at all times with senior colleagues across LGIM and the Group including those within Product, Investment, Distribution, Advertising Standards, Change, Operations,  Legal, and Compliance teams
  • Manage and oversee the approval process for all materials. Act as the final sign off point for the team and ensure that they manage all audit trail materials according to Group audit guidelines and that they work to regulatory guidelines at all times
  • Ensure the principles of Treating Customers Fairly are central to all activities within the team and that items delivered provide customers with clear, appropriate and educational information before, during and after sale
  • Take the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance

Qualifications:

Professional qualifications in relation to the role are desirable for example PMI, AFPC, IMC, CIM, IDM

Knowledge:

  • Proven track record of success in a senior marketing/communication/consultancy role
  • Proven track  record in leading a marcomms team ideally within a financial services environment ideally within a provider, asset manager and/or EBC
  • A strong track record of development and delivery of financial services marketing and communication plans, including e-strategy and financial education
  • A strong commercial background and experience of building profitable communication strategies
  • Specific experience is required of;
  • Budget planning, forecasting and financial management
  • Relationship management
  • Research & Segmentation techniques
  • Project management, Prince 2 desirable
  • Strong knowledge is required of:
  • The DC market place, and how the business operates commercially and financially across the various distribution channels
  • LGIM’s products and services
  • Our competitors, market forces and legislative changes that would affect the LGIM proposition or customer needs
  • The compliance and documentary processes needed to ensure financial promotion approval

  • Ability to work with technical and creative teams
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience, comfortable with challenging senior stakeholders when required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially problem solving, influencing, negotiating  & decision making
  • Good bundled pension & investment fund product awareness
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to articulate and convey issues and ideas to senior stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner
