- Job Duties
Legal & General is currently recruiting for multiple Actuarial roles within the Retail Protection Risk Pricing team at both Student and recently qualified levels.
Our roles have a variety of focus, including:
1. Assumption setting and experience investigations
Deliver robust pricing and reporting assumptions in line with stakeholders’ expectations and deliver improvements to the methodology and processes as required.
Develop the company policy for experience investigations and assumption setting processes ensuring that we meet our obligations to customers and adhere to industry best practice.
Support the improvement of reinsurance arrangements by providing experience data for reinsurance tenders, carrying out adhoc analyses and answering queries from reinsurers on the information provided.
Assist in the development of the product range including new distribution deals by carrying out experience investigation and adhoc analyses as required.
Support Insurance wide projects and developments, providing technical support and communicating with relevant stakeholders.
3. Communication and meeting the needs of our customers
Present and communicate the results of experience investigation analyses to the wider team, stakeholders and governance committees.
Understand the needs of our customers, manage the expectations of internal customers and work to agreed timescales.
Motivate and support members of the Risk Pricing team.
4. Governance and controls
Maintain good standards of risk control and ensure that governance processes are adhered to, exceptions raised and issues resolved in a timely manner.
Support the development of the systems used for experience investigations and similar systems and ensure the end to end change process is robust and documented in line with regulatory, statutory and professional requirements.
- Skills Required
Part Qualified Actuary with good progress made through the exams or recently qualified Actuary
- Ability to analyse and interpret data, understands the impact in a business context
- Able to work under pressure and meet targets.
- Flexibility to deal with changing priorities

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of a relevant modelling platform (e.g. Prophet or Emblem) and data manipulation tools (e.g. SAS or DCS) advantageous.
- Knowledge and understanding of the usual Microsoft Office applications

Legal & General runs a highly regarded Actuarial Rotations Programme for students, which you will be a part of. The role you are applying to is for a specific location, but to further develop and enhance your skills you may be asked to rotate in future to our other site. Our sites are London and Hove.
Our view is that this role is suitable for agile working. This means we would consider a more flexible working arrangement, where your hours and work location are managed according to business, customer and personal needs. For this role, you would be based in one of either our Hove or London offices but you could work in other Legal and General offices or at home, as necessary, provided this meets business needs. Details of agile working will be discussed during the interview process.
