The Visual Designer will be a hands-on and highly motivated individual who possesses a wide range of technical design knowledge along with a passion for all aspects of digital design.

The Visual Designer will be a hands-on and highly motivated individual who possesses a wide range of technical design knowledge along with a passion for all aspects of digital design.  With an innate ability to create and craft user-led experiences, they should have a strong understanding of visual systems and be confident to play a key role in shaping visual direction within L&G.

The day-to-day role will involve working collaboratively with the UX team, Business Analysts and Product Owners – developing deep understanding of user and business needs.

Influence product direction through innovative design-thinking and design treatment, aligning to the Master brand and business requirements.

Manage approval process for visual designs – allowing these to be handed-off to the build teams to inspire development of the right product.

Strong knowledge of Agile-led delivery and comfortable working iteratively with development teams.  Providing strong process-led design thinking and implementation.

Maintain, support and manage a cohesive design language system across all L&G Digital assets, using tools such as Sketch & Invision

An inherent enthusiasm for technology, design trends and best practise; bringing expert knowledge and innovative thinking to the team.

Be at the centre of expertise in terms of giving the customers and partners a world-class digital user experience.   Represent the team on key projects as and when required as the dedicated online visual design specialist

Qualifications

Substantial experience of agency / digital design experience.

Knowledge

Experience of designing user-centred digital experiences for large / complex organisations

Portfolio demonstrating experience in interaction design, visual design and a thorough understanding of the design process

Portfolio demonstrating experience in interaction design, visual design and a thorough understanding of the design process

Experience of UX / design in Agile environment with proven experience in rapid, iterative low and high fidelity prototyping/ wireframing.

Strong understanding in a variety of design tools such as Sketch, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Strong commercial awareness with a keen interest in evaluating emerging digital trends

Client facing experience in an agency environment would be beneficial

Skills

Excellent communication and written skills.

Confident to challenge briefs and requests from within and outside the organisation.

Ability to influence and build trusted relationships with all levels within the organisation and external agencies and become a strong advocate for user centred design

Good team player – ability to work collaboratively across disciplines
