Establish business partnering relationships between Finance and the LG Retail Retirement business units to ensure that the financial implications of strategic decisions are fully assessed and understood. 

The purpose of the LGRR Financial Management team is to provide a clear link between the LGRR business and finance to ensuring that the financial implications of business and strategic decisions are fully assessed and understood.

Purpose

Establish business partnering relationships between Finance and the LGRR business units to ensure that the financial implications of strategic decisions are fully assessed and understood. 

Provide high quality financial analysis to support decision-making across a range of strategic opportunities.

Support the financial planning for the LGRR Division ensuring that financial results are optimised, predictable and well understood.

Proactive engagement with the LGRR new business teams, LGRI Finance team, CRO team and Group Finance on all matters relating to financial management.

Business Partner

Establish a relationship with the UK/International/Investment/LGHF teams to facilitate creative thinking and joined up development of strategic options and balance sheet solutions

Work with the UK/International/[Investment]/LGHF teams to identify opportunities to maximise returns on the current business portfolio.

Finance business partners work closely to support and challenge the UK/International/Investment/LGHF teams and seek to find innovative solutions to problems that may arise

Strategy, Financial Planning and Management

Support the LGRR Finance Director and the LGRR Strategy and Commercial Director in developing the strategic implementation plan that builds value over and above the sum of the Business Unit parts.

Support the LGRR Division’s M&A strategy and ensure it fits with the broader Group Strategic intent. Support and identify relevant business development and M&A opportunities.

Support on the financial assessment of acquisition and other commercial opportunities for the LGRR division by carrying out financial due diligence and analysing and optimising the impact on reported results.

Support the delivery of LGRR’s financial and capital forecasts for the 5 year strategic plan and detailed financial plan.

Support the delivery of the financial management information and scenario analysis capability to assist the LGRR Division in the management of its business performance.

Maintain an understanding of threats and opportunities to the LGRR financial results and develop a series of “levers” that can be used to manage the stability and predictability of these results.

Support in communicating financial results and forecasts to the Management Teams within the LGRR Division and to Group functions.

Identify and develop new and innovative methods for communicating the LGRR Division’s financial performance to internal and external stakeholders. 

Market and Competitor Analysis

Maintain a knowledge and understanding of developments in existing/target markets and current/potential competitors. Apply this knowledge to challenge business models and strategies of LGRR businesses.

Create a network of contacts and sources of information and analysis for the Division that is shared with the Division’s Senior Management.

Perform continuous assessment and commentary of the financial management and performance or LGRR’s current and future competitors. Channel this insight into the decision-making across the LGRR division to improve its competitive standing.

Customer Relationship and Information Management.

Own and optimise relationships across the LGRR business division and the wider Group.

Ensure needs and expectations of customers are met and by continually developing and maintaining proactive engagement with respect to financial performance and results.   

Technical knowledge

Typically at Manager level the jobholder will have knowledge of the following:

Reporting metrics: SII, IFRS, Economic Capital

The UK Life Industry and retirement products in particular

Risk and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

Typically the jobholder will be a qualified actuary with 1 to 3 years post qualification experience.  

Specific experience and skills

Experience of UK life insurance products, in particular in managing investment and longevity risk

UK Financial Reporting experience.

Ability to build relationships and interact effectively at all levels.

Good people management, communications and interpersonal skills are essential.

Ability to manage and develop client/customer relationships and provide excellent customer service.

This means we would consider a more flexible working arrangement, where your hours and work location are managed according to business, customer and personal needs. For this role, you would be based in our London Office, but you could work in other Legal and General offices or at home, as necessary, provided this meets business needs.
