Pricing / Profitability: Support development of pricing strategies, for new and existing products and features, that enable growth in market share, whilst maintaining required levels of profitability and return on capital, all in line with the Treating Customers Fairly policy. 

Within this:

• Analyse portfolio and market data to understand risk and profitability by varying segments
• Produce impact analyses for suggested pricing changes on both profit and volumes.

Experience & Assumption setting: Support development and production of the more in depth regular demographic and financial experience investigations, the results of which feed consistently into pricing strategy and assumption setting for financial reporting.  Drive forward the use of alternative techniques to analyse experience, such as Generalised Linear Modelling and Machine Learning, and identify new data sets to enhance the analysis.

Risk: Identify and document risks relating to the existing portfolio and new business.

Data integrity: Implement monitoring and controls to ensure appropriate levels of policy and accounting data integrity for actuarial reporting.  Seek improvements to data quality, by contributing to system developments and by working with internal & external customers.

General business support: Provide ad hoc actuarial support as required to support the GP business and wider onward relationships.

Data Scientist or Part-qualified actuary preferable; Graduate with strong mathematical/statistical background would be considered.

Takes ownership, delivers with drive & enthusiasm, deals with change in stride.

Experience using VBA, SQL and SAS would be advantageous, as would an understanding of machine learning and associated software packages.

Ability to analyse & interpret data, understand the implications in a business context, and present the conclusions in non-technical language.

Knowledge and understanding of insurance products.

Commercial attitude and good inter-personal skills.

Appreciation of how assumption and pricing recommendations will impact core financial metrics.

Balances strategic goals with immediate priorities, setting clear targets to achieve progress against both.
