You will be primarily responsible for maximising the value of the urban regeneration investments, working alongside asset and development managers to drive the performance of the assets.

As a result of rapid growth and increasing investment activity, LGC is looking to recruit an Investment Manager to join the Urban Regeneration team. The individual will assist with the identification and appraisal of new investment opportunities, establishing individual asset strategies to maximise value from the existing property portfolio, and be the point person for some of the key partner relationships.

The role holder will be primarily responsible for maximising the value of the urban regeneration investments, working alongside asset and development managers to drive the performance of the assets. The role holder will also be expected to get involved with all aspects of deal evaluation and execution, including initial investment appraisal, financial analysis, co-ordination & review of due diligence, forming recommendations, reviewing transaction documentation and as well as on-going portfolio management.

Accountabilities will include:

  • Active management of UK regeneration projects (including but not limited to MediaCityUK, Cardiff Central Square, Leeds Thorpe Park and Bracknell Town Centre)
  • Working alongside respective partners, asset managers and development managers to agree business plans and drive performance
  • Disciplined financial analysis and performance monitoring at the asset and sector level, reporting findings to sector head and L&G Board Members for the respective partnerships  
  • Contributing to the formation/implementation of the Direct Investments strategy
  • Assisting in deal sourcing, analysis, and management of advisors, partners and stakeholders in Urban Regeneration and, from time to time, other parts of LGC
  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with our partners (public and private sector)
  • Preparation and presentation of investment reports both for dissemination internally within the team and more broadly to/for group-wide investment committees
  • Deputising for the Head of Urban Regeneration, representing LGC on investment boards and leading project team meetings as required
  • Supervising and co-ordinating the day-to-day work of analysts within the Urban Regeneration team
  • Significant, demonstrable relevant work experience in asset/fund management, preferably in commercial real estate
  • Excellent quantitative skills, including familiarity with DCF modelling, to manage and interrogate cashflows and to develop recommendations for a variety of senior audiences
  • Strong written and verbal communication, familiarity with report writing for a variety of audiences
  • Ability to assess and analyse investment opportunities from first principles  
  • Commercially astute and entrepreneurially minded
  • Strong and demonstrable track record of interacting well with large range of stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker – ability to think long term and understand the impact of external events on the determination and implementation of investment strategy
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Enthusiastic, self-starter

Our view is that this role is suitable for agile working. This means we would consider a more flexible working arrangement, where your hours and work location are managed according to business, customer and personal needs. For this role, you would be based in London, but you could work in other Legal & General offices or at home, as necessary, provided this meets business needs.
