We are recruiting for a Tax Compliance & Reporting Manager to provide support to the Head of Tax Compliance, Reporting and Risk on group wide compliance matters as required, as well as supporting other members of the tax team as required on business initiatives.

Responsible for producing the Group consolidated tax reporting numbers and disclosures, working closely with the Tax Reporting and Risk Manager; coordinating the consolidated group tax forecasting processes and outputs; managing the group relief, claims and elections, tax payment and expenses analysis processes; managing the corporation tax compliance for a portfolio of entities and monitoring the corporation tax compliance status for the Group.

  1. Production and management of the consolidated tax disclosures under IFRS for the Group including the bespoke tax consolidation spreadsheet and inclusion in the financial reporting software. Responsible for production of briefing packs for the relevant stakeholders in respect of the consolidated tax disclosures.
  2. Manage the financial reporting, compliance and forecasting timetables, data collection and tax pack processes from around the group, provision of information to Group Finance and manage the process of sharing data with the external auditors.
  3. Production of monthly tax forecasts for the Group (ETR and cash tax/group relief) and reconciliation to actuals.
  4. Management of the group relief and tax payments processes.
  5. Completion of the corporation tax return (using ONESOURCE software) for a portfolio of group entities, the relevant claims and elections, the statutory entity tax disclosures, and responding to HMRC queries.  Assist the Head of Tax Compliance, Reporting and Risk in monitoring the overall corporation tax compliance status of the group.
  6. Oversee the expense analysis processes and claims and elections processes, and support the transfer pricing documentation process alongside other members of the team.
  7. Pro-actively identify and implement improvements to existing tax compliance and reporting processes, working closely with colleagues across finance and the business.
  8. Supporting other members of the tax team with ad hoc queries, projects and transactions
  • Qualified Accountant or Member or fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, or with sufficient tax and financial accounting experience to maintain up-to-date professional knowledge.
  • Knowledge of UK Taxes Acts covering corporation tax, income tax, VAT, IPT, NIC and stamp duty to the extent that they apply to the companies in the group for which tax responsibility held.
  • Knowledge of the tax aspects of reporting under IFRS.
  • Up to date working knowledge of all proposed current financial developments and their potential impact, including International Accounting Standards.
  • High level knowledge of the key reporting requirements of regulatory bodies where appropriate.
  • Understanding of the key concepts which drive regulation within our markets
  • Have an understanding of the general business and financial services environment and regulatory business requirements and its impact on Legal & General's strategy.
  • Practical knowledge of each of the Group's businesses and how they interrelate with legal entities and divisions.
  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of the Group's policies and procedures including the Group’s risk management framework.
  • Develops and maintains a commercial awareness of all businesses within the L&G Group
  • Ability to manage the production of both internal and external financial reporting documentation and announcements.
  • Knowledge of L&G Group’s UK general ledger and management reporting system.
  • Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Outlook and Powerpoint.
  • Detailed application of the department’s specific tax software packages.
  • Prepared to listen to others and work to understand their viewpoint.
  • Ability to create and deliver clear and concise written or verbal reports.
  • Open, actively seek to discuss issues and share information.
  • Ability to adapt approach to suit audience.
  • Assimilates complex information, identifies key issues, implications and consequences.
  • Ability to review for trends, anticipate problems/omissions and consider potential ways to mitigate them.
  • Prioritisation, planning and organisation of multi task/person assignments.

This means we would consider a more flexible working arrangement, where your hours and work location are managed according to business, customer and personal needs. For this role, you would be based in London, but you could work in other Legal & General offices or at home, as necessary, provided this meets business needs.
