Shared Service IT are seeking an experienced IT Delivery Manager with senior leadership potential to oversee definition and implementation of L&G’s Digital Workspace. The role will define and oversee delivery of L&G’s mobility strategy, deployment of O365 services and migration to Windows 10. Experience of successfully delivering public Cloud solutions and migrations would also be an advantage.

PURPOSE:

Act as primary accountability for allocated IT Project Portfolio delivery to key sponsors of Shared Service IT change initiatives. Manage the overall delivery of all IT products and services and help sponsors of Shared Service IT Change achieve their IT strategic objectives.

 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Act as a primary point of contact with customers in Shared Service IT Change  to generate ideas for new and innovative IT solutions.

2. Manage the demand planning, forecasting, budgeting, supply planning and prioritisation of projects within Shared Service IT Change.

3. Oversee and approve the development of the IT aspects of the business case for new programmes/projects and ensure that the solutions are fit for purpose.

4. Track and be accountable on behalf of IS for realisation of IT benefits committed through the formal business case process

5. Ensure the translation of business requirements into systems specifications in close collaboration with the Business, Business Change and the Managed Service Partner.

6. Manage all aspects relating to IT people, processes and technology throughout the lifecycle on behalf of Shared Service IT Change so that SSIT delivers quality services that fully support the business aims and strategy.

7. Create and agree statements of work (SOW) within existing contractual framework for services deployed to Shared Services IT Change.

8. Manage the operational supplier relationship and performance  with the Managed Service Partner, including the development and tracking of key performance indicators, benchmarking, disaster recovery planning and use of appropriate management information.

9. Seek out re-engineering and decommissioning opportunities to reduce IT operational expense

10. Manage the performance of the Managed Service Partner such that service delivery meets or exceeds business requirements – and supports the business leadership in realising the benefits from the IT investment.

11. Define, develop and deliver, processes and systems to ensure a consistent and good level of service that means customers’ expectations are met, is consistent with what we have communicated and is aligned to L&G’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly policy

 

Specific Experience

Experience of successfully delivering innovative digital workspaces including Windows 10, MS Office 365 and Mobility capabilities in a regulated industry.

Supplier management and contract negotiation experience relating to third party providers Management across the full development lifecycle

Staff: The majority of activities will be delivered via partners plus a small team of direct reports.

Customers: Senior Business Managers in Business Unit / Shared Service IT

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Solutions Delivery Management

Deep understanding of the software development processes, methodologies, tools and standards (both L&G internal and external such as CMM and Agile) for both the development and support of applications and the use of these to improve the cost, speed and quality of development services

Deep understanding of Project Management principles and life cycle and in particular CPMF and Prince 2 with particular emphasis on Risk Management

Understanding of L&G systems, architectures and infrastructures and the business processes they support and the ability to interpret these systems, architectures and infrastructures into innovative, fit-for-purpose system solutions to business needs

Understanding of established and emerging technologies and their contribution to systems solutions

Understanding of the Business Change cycle from inception to implementation including the organisation of Change initiatives (Sponsors, Steering Committees etc) and the construction of business cases

Business and IT Strategy

Deep understanding of the IT and Systems Strategy and its link to the business strategy and understanding of the Technical and Operations Strategies and their link with the business and systems strategies

Understanding of the broad economic, legislative and regulatory (particularly FCA) contexts within which L&G operates and their influence on the management of BIS and on solutions delivery

Understanding of L&G markets, products, distribution channels and competitor offerings to challenge and contribute to business requirements and ensure that systems solutions address the business drivers e.g. speed to market, 1% World etc

Understanding of new and emerging technologies and their potential application within L&G

Financial

Understanding of the principles of budget setting and management

Broad understanding of accounting principles in general and insurance-specific principles (e.g. Valuations, Value-Add etc) in particular

Understanding of the BIS budget principles e.g. recharge mechanism and L&G accounting principles and systems e.g. SMEPS

Understanding of the principals of business case construction and the L&G specific rules relating to the construction and management of business cases e.g. levels of approval, overspends etc

Experience in the management of suppliers including both the commercial and contractual relationships ensuring the delivery of agreed key cost, service level and performance targets, identifying and negotiating improvements in performance indicators where appropriate.

Understanding of contract negotiation and contract/supplier management best practices and L&G specific procurement processes

 

Resource Management

Understanding of the different sourcing strategies, and the ability to select a specific sourcing strategy to match a specific solution’s needs

Understanding of principles and practices of good management and leadership including keeping abreast of the latest management techniques and thinking

Organisational Awareness

Understanding of the departmental responsibilities and roles and the inter-relationship between areas both within BIS and L&G

Understanding of the overall L&G management structure e.g. role of Group Board

Understanding of governance responsibilities in general and specifically relating to Audit, Compliance and Group Risk

For this role, you would be based in Hove, but you could work in other Legal & General offices or at home, as necessary, provided this meets business needs.
