We are recruiting for an IT Supplier Relationship Manager to manage a portfolio of key IT suppliers across a broad business.

The focus is to ensure those suppliers continue to meet and adapt to business, policy and regulatory requirements in a dynamic environment.

Contract Management

Understanding contract law sufficiently to be able to identify risks, gaps and opportunities and to be able to ensure supplier delivery to the required quality

A demonstrable knowledge of techniques to deliver continuous cost savings and add value to business units

Supply Chain Management

Understanding the supply chain specific to Legal & General including the role of suppliers, their importance and their impact on Legal & General. Also understanding the regulatory obligations relating to the supply chain

A knowledge of tools and techniques to evaluate the balance of power between Legal & General and its suppliers, the impact of this balance/imbalance and how to use it or change it to Legal & General’ s advantage

Understanding of contract negotiation and contract/supplier management best practise and Legal & General specific processes

Understanding of supplier governance and its implementation for different agreements/services

Risk management

Understanding the supply chain specific to Legal & General including the role of suppliers, their importance and their impact on Legal & General and Shared Services

A knowledge of legal requirements and Legal & General’s Corporate Social Responsibility in relation to the supply chain including workers’ rights and waste

Business and IT Strategy

Understanding of the broad economic, legislative and regulatory (particularly FCA and GDPR) contexts within which Legal & General operates and their influence on the management of Shared Services and the solutions delivery  

Finance

Understanding of the principles of business case construction and the Legal & General specific rules relating to the construction and management of business cases e.g. levels of approval, overspends

Understanding of the Shared Services budget principles e.g. recharge mechanism, Legal & General accounting principles and systems

 

 

 

 

 

Influencing

Establishing effective relationships with peers, senior business managers and Directors who consider the holder to be a Subject Matter Expert and ‘Go to’ person

Interpreting business needs and requirements and ensuring that   these are delivered

Ensuring appropriate SRM representation on strategic projects

Commercial Dexterity

The ability to lead, innovate and deliver solutions to commercial/service problems

An understanding of key performance indicators and SLAs for Service Delivery and reporting

An understanding of end to end life-cycle from inception to implementation including the organisation of change initiatives (Sponsors, Steering Committees etc) and the construction of business cases

Understanding of complex performance management frameworks

Demonstrate a high-degree of numeracy, allowing the jobholder to make quick calculations, understand commercial offers and make decisions based on them to obtain best value

The accurate reporting of cost changes and cost avoidance

Leadership and Team Working

Promote SRM, lead by example and ensure professional conduct at all times

Take a wider interest within Legal & General, Shared Services and GPSM

Personal Effectiveness

Demonstrate sound commercial judgement at all times and the ability to make the right decision or recommendation to peers and senior management quickly

Able to identify and adhere to important deadlines and re-schedule less important tasks as appropriate, ensuring customers are kept informed

Meet and/or exceed departmental and personal objectives as appropriate

Contribute to accurate budget management

Project management skills

Communication

High standard of written and verbal communication / presentation

The ability to prepare business cases, contracts and senior management briefings and summaries

The ability to give clear and comprehensive instructions and also to interpret and deliver against instructions received

Represent Legal & General professionally with customers and suppliers

Ethics

The ability to interpret ethical policy and differentiate between normal and excessive business gifts and/or hospitality

Constant demonstration of the ethical values of Legal & General, leading by example internally and externally

Legal

An understanding of commercial terms and unenforceable provisions (Unfair Contract Terms)

Specific Experience

Comprehensive experience of managing key supplier relationships. Operational business management.

For this role, you would be based in Hove, but you could work in other Legal & General offices or at home, as necessary, provided this meets business needs.
