About L&G

Working here is about being there for our customers; we’re available should the worst happen and we work together to enable social and financial equality across the UK. But it’s also about you –how you develop and what you can achieve. We’ll help your talent thrive in an environment where you’ll be supported to work flexibly and autonomously, sharing in our success and rewarded for a great performance with a generous benefits package.

About the business area

With around one million customers, our retail business helps turn customers’ pension savings into lifelong retirement income and our corporate business looks after our defined benefit pension schemes ensuring they are effectively managed to protect against risk and achieve their maximum potential.

Legal & General Retirement (LGR) provides retirement solutions to over one million customers with a vision to reach two million customers by 2020.  Its division is broadly split into two: retail and corporate.  The retail business helps customers turn their pension savings into lifelong retirement income. The corporate business helps defined benefit pension schemes manage their annuity liabilities, through buy-out, buy-in and longevity insurance arrangements.

High quality, current, and resilient IT systems, tools and capabilities are critical in enabling the LGR business to continue to grow in the Retirement market. The business expectation of IT is increasing, and traditional low-risk models of service provision no longer meet the demands of a business with ambitions to grow its digital footprint, engage its customers online and drive valuable analytics science from the data it manages.

LGR has an ambitious digital vision that brings both legacy processes into the 21st century but also delivers state of the art technology solutions in our digital workspace and “insurtech” industry.
