We are currently recruiting for a Leadership Development Consultant to be based in Birmingham. This role will be recruited in either a Permanent or a Fixed Term basis

Principle Accountabilities

  • Support the management of end-to-end Learning & Development propositions across GI Operations; delivering to agreed timescales and with appropriate quality level to meet the requirements of the business goals.  Ensure that relevant training enables colleagues to interact clearly with customers and meet expectations of performance and service.
  • Take shared ownership of the quality, design and delivery of our learning and development curriculum across GI Operations to increase competence, capability and overall business goals.  Ensure a consistent approach to our L&D governance, principles and framework is maintained.
  • Actively develop strong relationships with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels, creating balanced and effective conversations, in order to deliver Learning & Development work streams that benefit your ‘customer’ and business units involved.
  • Provide a high level of consultancy when handling requests and enquiries to explore the needs of the individual/business and consider all options so that we can provide guidance, counsel and advice on the right Learning and Development support/solutions.  
  • Be adept at providing competent and effective coaching through 1:1 and group sessions and adapt your coaching style to be able to facilitate workshops, learning events, forums and meetings; enabling individuals to explore thought processes and openly share ideas and opinions.
  • Be responsible for assigned Learning & Development projects so that clear objectives are set, processes implemented and appropriate solutions delivered in line with operational requirements or business change outcomes.
  • Possess a full knowledge of the delivery criteria across the L&D proposition and work in conjunction with the wider team and appropriate business areas.  Plan, resource and schedule events cost effectively and timely, and maximise delivery opportunities to meet the priorities of the business operations.
  • Research and be aware of external market and internal group practices in the Learning & Development arena, identifying improvement opportunities or celebratory approaches so that cutting edge solutions are continually delivered to the operational areas.
  • Be aware of potential risks and issues associated with Learning & Development work streams, ensuring that critical matters are appropriately escalated or mitigating actions implemented to ensure we meet guidelines.

Qualifications

  • CITP or equivalent training qualification desired
  • Ideally experienced for a minimum of 2 years in a Learning & Development environment.
  • Experience in a broad range of delivery skills and methods.
  • Experience of people and culture change initiatives and ability to work alongside aligned development solutions. 

Knowledge

  • Professional knowledge of principles, best practice, methods and techniques for creating and delivering effective training to support implementation, developed through a combination of practical experience and formal Training.
  • Stays current with developments and trends in L&D and business disciplines and strategy.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and willingness to learn and use contemporary technology (hardware, software, equipment and processes).
  • A good understanding of the Financial Services market and customer service environments. 
  • Maintain awareness of industry wide Learning & Development knowledge and philosophies.
  • Understanding the hierarchy and culture of own, customer and supplier organisations and being able to identify the decision makers and influencers in order to successfully implement target-operating model.
  • An awareness of systems that impact on our L&D deliverables and those relevant to colleagues.

Skills

Informal Leadership

  • An ability to lead others, irrespective of line management responsibilities, through continuous change and improvement of influencing, negotiation and expert communication skills.

Decision Making

  • Making decisions at the appropriate time, taking into account the needs of the situation, priorities, constraints and the availability of necessary information.

Coaching, Facilitation and Workshop Delivery

  • Be proficient in group coaching and facilitation.
  • Experienced in 1:1 coaching of peers and colleagues
  • Confident to deliver in a workshop environment to diverse audiences, regardless of level, size or experience.
  • Utilising a range of methodologies to ensure that the purpose of each session is met.

Consultancy

  • Knowledge of and practical experience of utilising a range of approaches to resolve business problems/issues including client contracting, scoping, diagnosis and intervention management skills.

Project Management

  • Experienced in principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through to implementation, including governance, resource planning and reporting.

Interpersonal skills

  • Taking a people-centric approach that is genuine and comes naturally, where the role-holder demonstrates empathy, builds rapport easily and is able to read their audience.

Ability to travel across UK locations, when required.
