This role will support the Legal & General Group Sustainability team on a range of activities associated with our sustainability strategy, working with the whole team and other stakeholders in our business

The role will focus on day-to-day tasks to support our third-sector philanthropic partnerships; management of charitable budget; engagement of our employees with our sustainability objectives; communication with external parties; and various tasks to ensure the smooth running of our team. Working within the wider Employee Communications and Reputation area, our role is to help unlock the potential of L&G’s people to build a greener, fairer future, within a business which places sustainability at its core.

  • Manage the delivery of our employee fund-matching, time matching and volunteering programmes. Support the Community Engagement Manager and Senior Sustainability Manager with developing and promoting our volunteering offer to our employees.
  • Support the management and delivery of our existing and new charity partnerships. Activity will typically include co-ordinating volunteering opportunities, managing relationships with charity partners, and working with our employee comms teams to promote our partnerships.
  • Manage queries into and out of the team; develop our intranet presence; build new ways for people to find information on our offering, such as team presentation materials; and engage employees with our agenda.
  • Manage charitable payments from our corporate account, ensuring spend is accurately recorded and undertaken in a timely way. Support the Head of Sustainability in managing our charitable budgets.
  • Respond to ESG reporting requests, including RFP questionnaires and investor queries. Support other team members in completing more complex requests, such as strategic questionnaires, detailed RFPs or preparing for investor meetings, by gathering information from elsewhere in the group, preparing and submitting responses.
  • Support the Head of Sustainability and Senior Sustainability Manager in sustainability reporting activities, which could include collating data and information, tracking stakeholder engagement and approvals, sourcing evidence for legal approvals, and working with other internal teams on project management.
  • Contribute to the overall running of the Sustainability team and the wider department, by supporting colleagues with desk-based research, attending meetings and working groups, and carrying out related administrative tasks.  
  • Treating Customers Fairly:  Ensures the Legal & General employer brand is presented and delivered consistently and appropriately in the best interests of Legal & General’s various audience groups, and ensures all internal teams and stakeholders are given this guidance in a clear and consistent way and adhere to Legal & General’s Customer Experience and TCF policy.

 

  • An understanding of how corporate philanthropic partnerships work
  • An understanding of the role played by sustainability in building employer reputation and brand equity
  • Knowledge of emerging trends in sustainability
  • Familiarity with how charities operate and some understanding of social impact and theories of change
  • Some familiarity with sustainability reporting would be advantageous
  • Experience working with charities, either in a corporate sustainability / corporate responsibility team or in a charity is desirable
  • Experience of corporate communications or reputation management is desirable
  • Experience working in ESG or in a related discipline is desirable
