LGIM Investments Climate Solutions Team model, develop, communicate and implement climate response strategies for our clients. Co-ordinating embedded climate factors into all of LGIM’s investment areas. Working closely in collaboration with Investment Stewardship and Distribution teams to raise LGIM’s public profile in the sphere of climate integration. The team also research energy transition investment opportunities and develop climate impact investing strategies.

The Junior Database Developer will work closely with LGIM’s investment functions in the following areas:

  • Supporting the development of LGIM’s in house climate modelling system called LGIM Destination@Risk.
  • Working with members of the Climate Solutions team to enhance climate risk and alignment metrics.
  • Performance tuning and query optimization of data pipelines and SQL functions and procedures.
  • Building processes to ingest large datasets from various internal and external data sources in an automated way.
  • Building out reporting tools to help analysts and fund managers analyse their climate aligned portfolios.
  • Analysing portfolio and climate data and generating statistical information to identify trends & patterns.
  • Working with our colleagues across business functions as we support their use of the LGIM Destination@Risk tools.
  • BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Maths, Statistics, Data Science or a related field.
  • Previous experience of writing efficient stored procedures, functions, and views in SQL.
  • Experience or knowledge in the following areas; aggregate functions, window functions, CTE’s, table indexes, source control, transactions and job scheduling.
  • An understanding of database design and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience in data analysis, modelling, forecasting or finance (desirable).
  • Front end development experience using Python, JavaScript, HTML & CSS (desirable).
  • A keen interest in climate change, climate modelling and climate investing. 
  • Being a proactive and productive team member by constantly looking to develop personal knowledge.
  • Happy to work independently and in a structured and organised fashion. Capable at multi-tasking and managing short and long term projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas to the wider team and organisation
