To work within Group Tax to support the Head of LGIM Tax on funds and asset management tax matters. Responsibilities include management of funds tax operational compliance and advisory matters including UK and overseas taxes and investor reporting; FATCA/CRS compliance across the whole group; and other tax support as required.

  • You will support the Head of LGIM Tax as a tax business partner for LGIM and on wider asset management/funds tax issues including - providing advice to LGIM on funds tax compliance, investor reporting, tax documentation, tax reclaims, new product launches and ad hoc queries
  • You will perform various fund tax compliance & advisory responsibilities
  • You will support fund operations teams on compliance matters including SD/SDRT matters and tax documentation
  • You will perform double tax treaty analysis for sponsored funds
  • You will have management of treaty-based withholding tax relief and claims
  • You will have management of tax agents, non-resident capital gains tax, financial transactions tax and other local tax compliance matters
  • You will provide investor reporting and fund documentation input and advice
  • You will be supporting the broader international tax team on Pillar 2 compliance and elections for funds
  • You will provide up to date technical advice for UK and overseas tax changes
  • You will be advising within the tax team on alternative fund structures across the Group; and
  • You will work with the wider tax team as required
  • You will have responsibility for all FATCA/CRS issues and compliance in LGIM and across the wider L&G Group. Responsibility for updating and maintaining the FATCA/CRS Group policies and procedures
  • You will maintain good technical knowledge of UK taxes and international tax issues relevant to the asset management business and funds; monitor relevant changes in international and domestic tax legislation for applicability to L&G, assessing impact and being able to provide clear briefing for BUs and non-tax specialists on the relevant issues. Prepare representations on prospective changes on behalf of L&G for relevant tax authorities and industry bodies to ensure the Group’s issues and needs are represented. Prepare updates for presentation to the wider tax team
  • You will build relationships with key contacts in LGIM to ensure tax matters are considered appropriately for fund launches/closures/changes, transfers of assets, fund registrations, new investment types. Ensure data required for tax agents and reclaim filings is obtained in a timely and complete manner.
  • You will manage tax reporting and documentation processes completed by tax operations team and ensure the tax ops team is achieving to SLAs and taking on additional processes where appropriate.
  • Qualified Accountant desirable, or with sufficient experience of financial accounting to maintain up-to-date professional knowledge.
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant tax experience whether in HMRC, accounting practice or industry
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation or with sufficient tax experience to maintain up-to-date professional knowledge.
  • Knowledge of UK Taxes Acts as they apply to asset management and funds taxation, UK and International, including corporation tax, tax treaties, investor reporting, VAT and stamp duty and FATCA/CRS.Knowledge of European funds taxation, including application of tax treaties, investor reporting and FATCA/CRS.
  • Knowledge of alternative fund structures and UK life companies desirable.
  • Understanding of global tax reclaims landscape and general requirements.
  • Develops knowledge of the key reporting requirements of the FCA and other regulatory bodies where appropriate.
