How could you tell the story of a market leading FTSE 100 business and make it resonate for customers?

We’re looking for someone with retail or financial services experience to take our campaigns to the next level: this is not a traditional PR role!

At Legal & General Retail we look after over 10 million customers. But as market leader we are not sitting back, we want to challenge perceptions, reach new audiences and bring to life the value our products bring to customers. You might do that through press releases of course, but you might also do a digital first approach, thought leadership or partnerships, or even through audio via radio or podcasting. Ideally you will work with your wider PR, content and marketing colleagues to deliver a fully integrated campaign encompassing paid, earned, shared and owned channels.

This is a chance for you to join a high performing team and take ownership of your business area. You'll be working in a cross functional team where you can draw on complimentary skills and expertise. You’ll be in position to make an impact across the business and will be given the support to help you progress and develop within the role.

You will be:

Working with the Director of PR & Content, and the wider team, to devise and deliver a compelling narrative and strategy for Protection

Overseeing the PR calendar for Protection, proactively creating opportunities for regular coverage and following the external news agenda to help identify commentary and media opportunities

Working with our agencies and the marketing team to deliver the campaigns and plan for Protection in particular but Legal & General Retail (LGR) as a whole where appropriate.

Drafting and editing clear, concise and compelling written press materials and oversee publication ensuring overall quality

Supporting on and in some cases lead on reactive press

Having joint ownership of the press release and case study processes with the other PR managers.

Establishing and maintain strong links with key internal stakeholders, journalists, and other external stakeholders

Treating Customers Fairly (TCF)

When deputising, to manage the team in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, including the Partnership Agreement, so that the team’s business objectives are achieved consistently.

Education:

Degree educated and/or professionally qualified

Knowledge:

Ideally - knowledge and understanding of protection products and issues, from both a D2C and B2B perspective

Strong commercial awareness and a good understanding of personal finance with either a financial services, government, retail or regulated industry background

Good knowledge of social media & digital platforms

Strong press relations – ideally with contacts in the personal finance space

Experience:

Extensive experience in a leading PR role

First class writing and proof reading

A proactive and adaptable nature: able to reprioritise tasks according to business needs and spot potential issues, escalating where appropriate

A creative and integrated approach to campaigns
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
A quick learner with a proven ability to maintain high standards
Strong team-working skills

Leadership:

Ability to deputise for the other PR team members

When you commit to Legal & General, we’ll commit to you too. That means we’ll recognise and reward your hard work, your performance and your contribution.

If you join us, you’ll get access to some great benefits, including private medical insurance, 27 days holiday (excluding bank holidays), a generous pension scheme, life assurance, and Income Protection. You can participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice. We’re also proud to offer competitive family leave.

You’ll have the opportunity to participate in our annual, performance-related bonus plan and valuable share schemes. And then there are the many discounts we offer that you can take advantage of – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online offerings.
