We are recruiting a Conduct Risk Monitoring Consultant to join our team.

In this role, you will effectively contribute towards the formation of a risk-based monitoring plan and deliver accurate, reliable and timely monitoring reviews of high quality.

In addition, you will support the development of the Monitoring function, as guided for the Monitoring Manager or Head of Monitoring.

  • Contribute to the oversight of first line business activity by conducting Monitoring reviews, independently or with the Monitoring Manager for complex subjects.   
  • Monitor regulatory priorities, industry developments, divisional business strategy and initiatives and contribute to planning, and incorporating those priorities into the risk assessment approach and contribute to keeping the conduct risk universe up to date.
  • Contribute to maintaining effective relationships with operational staff to enable the delivery of practical solutions to problems or the implementation of improved systems, processes or controls. Develop and maintain good working relationships with other Group second line functions, including the Group Risk teams to enable effective communications on matters of mutual interest and effective reporting on business risks and issues.
  • Ensure that investigations and remediation activity are completed to a high standard, work is adequately planned, and outcomes documented to a high standard requiring minimal review and change by senior managers.
  • Own and maintain up-to-date knowledge of conduct risk developments and participate in knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to Monitoring work, demonstrate deep business model knowledge in the oral and written outputs produced. Ability to converse confidently with senior business managers.
  • Demonstrate pro-activeness and insight in utilising technology/analytics for Monitoring work and guide the work from design to conclusion with help from a technical expert.
  •  Ensure that the appropriate process, systems and controls are in place, and that the risks and issues are identified and escalated, to ensure that customers are treated fairly in line with Legal & General’s Customer Conduct Risk Policy.
  • Knowledge of the structure of the FCA handbook, rules and principles and how they apply to the business.
  • Extensive operational or risk management experience within Financial services, preferably the Pension and Retirement sectors.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and regulatory risk management, particularly from a conduct perspective.
  • Good understanding of other risk management principles and practices, such as operational / enterprise risk management.
  • Previous similar or transferrable experience in a Financial Services firm or Professional Services firm required.
  • Ability to plan and organise monitoring reviews and manage own workload/time effectively around this. Ability to multi-task, i.e., conduct more than one review in parallel on different subject matters.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex information and data effectively to draw conclusions and propose well-reasoned guidance.
  • Ability to lead interviews and conduct debriefs with senior management.
  • Confident in making regulatory judgements but recognises where decisions may be outside own limits and proactively seeks the necessary authority. Involves others in the decision-making process to get a variety of inputs. 
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.
