LGIM are seeking a team orientated individual who is self-motivated with an innovative mind, good communication skills and imagination to join the UK Residential Platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for transaction management for UK Residential transactions with an initial focus upon growing the urban BTR pipeline across L&G Funds where L&G has c.£2.5bn of committed capital to invest. The longer-term intention is to grow the UK Residential Platform to cover all residential activity in the UK including student, co-living, later-living and eco-homes for rent and it is anticipated that the successful candidate will play a key part in the platforms strategic growth.

LGIM are seeking a candidate who can further enhance our Residential capabilities, be a best-in-class transaction manager with the market presence, contacts, experience and knowledge to continue the growth of a dynamic UK Residential Platform. The role involves being a part of a proactive, specialist team and is an exciting opportunity for the candidate to take a leading role in developing our Residential business.

  • By utilising their existing relationships with agents, developers, and landowners the successful candidate will be required to identify, source and execute appropriate BTR opportunities and any wider future residential mandates as may be applicable.
  • The successful candidate will take responsibility for transaction related matters associated with both land acquisitions and forward fundings.
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Utilise their extensive market knowledge to feed into current and future fund strategies.
  • Prepare and present transaction recommendations to LGIM investment committee boards.
  • Provide input for property valuations to ensure correctness.
  • Play a leading role within the LGIM BTR team to ensure that the platform remains a market leader in terms of ESG and wellness.
  • In addition to sourcing new opportunities the successful candidate will be expected to take a leading role throughout the acquisition process to include the following:
    • Work with Fund analysts to appropriately underwrite all investment opportunities incorporating appropriate values, rents, gross to net leakage and management assumptions.
    • Work with third party specialist consultants, provide in depth advice regarding the suitability of scheme specification in the context of not only investment, letting and occupier demand but also regulation, wellbeing and ESG.
    • Take a leading role in the negotiation of sale and purchase agreements, development funding agreements, and leases.
    • Take a leading role in the coordination of all technical due diligence including where relevant any planning and development related matters.
    • Where necessary work with third party developers throughout the development process to ensure a successful conclusion.
  • Relevant experience within the transactions market.
  • Understanding of the capital structures and impact of debt on investment returns
  • Expert knowledge of a range of residential tenures, rental regimes and regulatory matters.
  • Someone who has the ability to source multiple investment opportunities but also the discipline to turn them down when appropriate.
  • An ability to conduct and analyse management, technical and operational due diligence and translate this succinctly to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Passion and knowledge to place ESG at the centre of all decisions and recommendations.
  • Excellent academic background
  • A team player demonstrating high levels of dynamism, drive and commitment
  • Highly organised with the ability to run multiple projects and prioritise effectively
  • Excellent communication skills
