Competitive base plus bonus, pension, study support and much more!

2 September 2022

We have an amazing opportunity for a part-qualified actuary (ideally with knowledge of the DB pension scheme market) to join our Collateral and Reinsurance Management team.

This is a unique opportunity to join the UK’s largest life insurer, who is also a market leader in UK pension risk transfer and one of Europe’s largest asset managers in an exciting, varied role.

In this role you will focus on managing the arrangements agreed following a DB Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) deal. This will involve maintaining ongoing relationships with numerous reinsurers, and potentially Trustee counterparts, and to provide calculations relating to post-sale pricing, reinsurance, longevity insurance, and collateral arrangements.

  • Supporting the Actuarial Manager in providing post-sale monitoring and calculations relating to buy-in/out pricing, reinsurance, longevity insurance and collateral arrangements in a proactive manner.
  • Helping to on-board new PRT reinsurance arrangements, including reviewing, and providing comments to draft contracts and models.
  • Providing the highest level of support to internal and external clients including consultants, trustees, and reinsurers.
  • Supporting and checking the work of the Operations Analyst in our Collateral and (Re)Insurance Services team.
  • Providing actuarial support to projects relevant to the wider PRT new business team.
  • Part-qualified actuary who is making good progress with the actuarial exams.
  • Knowledge of Defined Benefit Pension schemes, and associated valuation techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines to ensure project delivery.

When you commit to Legal & General, we’ll commit to you too. That means we’ll recognise and reward your hard work, your performance and your contribution.

If you join us, you’ll get access to some great benefits, including private medical insurance, at least 25 days holiday (excluding bank holidays), a generous pension scheme, life assurance, and Income Protection. You can participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice. We’re also proud to offer competitive family leave.

You’ll have the opportunity to participate in our annual, performance-related bonus plan and valuable share schemes. And then there are the many discounts we offer that you can take advantage of – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online offerings.

Legal & General runs a highly regarded Actuarial Rotations Programme for students, which you will be a part of. The role you are applying to is part of our rotational program, designed to further develop and enhance your skills, and as part of this program you will be expected to rotate in both of our sites in London and Hove.

For internal candidates, please note that your application will be shared with the L&G Chief Tutor. This is your name only and for rotation purposes.
