As part of the development of LGIM’s Global index business, the Index Research & Development Team works on designing factor-based strategies, ESG and market cap solutions in areas that have traditionally remained uncovered by the traditional providers and asset managers. The team works with clients globally to support them in choosing and designing customised index strategies.

You'll play a critical part in continuing to support the growth of the custom Index business, particularly in the ESG, factor investing and thematics. A newly created role, this will also enable us to also scale the solutions and provide post development services to our custom index clients.

  • Researching index strategies and evaluation across equities, fixed income, commodities and alternative investments.
  • Building financial models to help evaluate market cap, factor and ESG strategies.
  • Presenting research on a weekly basis on the findings and working closely with members of the index R&D and stakeholders in the Investment Solutions Group/Fund Managers 
  • Supporting the team with presentations to a range of clients, potential clients, consultants and intermediaries.
  • Building data analysis applications for various indices in VBA/Python
  • Supporting and building customised index solutions and evaluation tools.
  • You'll have a deep understanding of how to evaluate a systematic investment strategy, with experience of reviewing, evaluating and developing factor based strategies.
  • Strong investment and financial market knowledge including financial modelling and factor investing.
  • Highly numerate, ideally with a degree in statistics, mathematics, data science or another quantitative/numerical discipline.
  • Experience of drafting research reports about index investment strategies, with the ability to present complex index data into a simple and readable format. 
  • Python and VBA are essential to automate data generate periodic portfolio analysis. You'll also have a good understanding of financial statements and be able to build desktop applications in VBA / Python.
  • An interest in ESG/Sustainability, or experience working with this in an investment capacity.
  • Excellent written & communication skills
  • You'll be highly organised and have strong prioritisation skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under time pressure and with accuracy
