The purpose of the role is to help L&G provide a consistent and reliable service to its clients and the markets that it serves, by ensuring that the Operational Resilience framework, tools and practices are implemented and embedded across the business. 

The primary focus is on L&G’s Important Business Services (IBS), and ensuring that we can help the organisation to Prevent, Adapt, Respond, Recover and Learn from operational disruptions.

We're flexible on location for the right applicant, but we're looking for willingness to travel to our UK offices and for a least 1 day per fortnight to be spent in our Hove office. 

  • Oversee Retail Protection's resilience controls. Ensure they are regularly reviewed, updated and tested.
  • Become a critical partner to the Retail Protection business area in order to raise the level of resilience understanding and awareness.
  • Assist the business to identify and disclose resilience relevant risks and ensure they are captured in the appropriate systems.
  • Define and run effective test / scenarios based on realistic scenarios to validate that the resilience processes, controls and documentation address the potential threats.
  • Review and challenge the resilience remediation points to ensure that any gaps are sustainably closed.
  • Create, update and provide detailed reporting to working group, steering committees and governance bodies.
  • Experience (either professional or academic) in one of the following areas:
    • Operational Resilience
    • Business Continuity Management
    • Operational Risk
    • Enterprise Risk Management
  • Knowledge of risk and control frameworks and resilience risks 
  • Experience of resilience best practice standards
  • Involvement in Incident management, crisis and recovery during significant events and major operational outages
  • Understanding of technology, suppliers and outsource vendors and their resilience governance/oversight
  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written formats, including Powerpoint and Excel
  • Ability to roll up their sleeves and deliver a high volume of work while maintaining attention to detail and quality
