This spring, we have a brilliant opportunity for a part, qualified student actuary to join our LGRR (L&G Retail Retirement) Financial Management team here at Legal & General.

The purpose of the Financial Management team is to provide a clear link between the business and finance ensuring that the financial implications of business and strategic decisions are fully assessed and understood.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an actuarial professional who enjoys a wide-ranging role as Actuarial Analyst; this position entails supporting financial planning for LGRR, assisting with the production of high quality financial analysis to support decision-making across a range of strategic opportunities, process improvement, and supporting the team in ensuring the financial implications of strategic decisions made by LGRR business units are fully assessed and understood.

Legal & General runs a highly regarded Actuarial Rotations Programme for students, which you will be a part of, and this role provides full study support with agile / flexible working.

  • Perform tasks to produce financial management information, forecasting, planning and scenario analysis to assist the LGRR business in the management of its business performance. 
  • Develop processes to improve efficiency where possible.
  • Assist in the production of high quality financial analysis to support decision-making across a range of strategic opportunities.
  • Support the Financial Management Actuaries in ensuring that the financial implications of strategic decisions made by LGRR business units are fully assessed and understood. 
  • Support the financial planning for LGRR ensuring that financial results are optimised, predictable and well understood
  • Establish a relationship with the UK/ International/ Investment /LGHF teams to facilitate the production of information efficiently and help find solutions to problems that arise.
  • Support on the financial assessment of acquisition and other commercial opportunities for LGRR by carrying out financial due diligence and analysing and optimising the impact on reported results.
  • Support the development of new and innovative methods for communicating LGRR’s financial performance to internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Maintain a knowledge and understanding of developments in existing/ target markets and current/ potential competitors.
  • Engage with the team’s customers across LGRR and the wider Group.
  • Develop and maintain relationships within the wider Finance team.   

Qualifications:

  • You will be part qualified actuary making progress through the actuarial examinations

Technical knowledge:

  • Reporting metrics: SII and IFRS
  • Knowledge of the UK life insurance industry and retirement products in particular is beneficial; we may consider candidates from a retirement consulting background 
  • Risk and regulatory requirements

Experience:

  • Ideally experience of UK life insurance retirement products
  • UK Financial Reporting experience and a working knowledge of MS Excel and Prophet
  • Ability to analyse data and draw appropriate conclusions
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential
