The Financial Control team is responsible for the oversight of the Model & Financial Control Framework (MFCF) across the Legal & General Group. You'll l play a key role in ensuring that the MFCF is operating effectively and efficiently across the annual reporting cycle.

You will also support the Group Model & Financial Control Leads and Senior Managers as well as have responsibility for the delivery of certain elements of MFCF, including design effectiveness testing and reporting, as well as ad hoc activities around the ongoing development of MFCF across the group (such as preparation for UK SoX).

 

 

  • Independent walkthrough, design effectiveness and operating effectiveness testing - attend the walkthrough organised by the Senior Manager / Lead, understand the process, and implement changes to the flowchart, documentation, and key controls.
  • Identification and rating of deficiencies, as well as associated remediation plans – once conclusion on remediation has been reached by Senior Manager / Lead, ensure issue and action are recorded on OSX and on the relevant reporting templates.
  • Prepare material to support the divisional MFCF governance processes to ensure effective delivery
  • Update the relevant FCF documentation required to support the delivery of the design and operating effectiveness. This may include the flowchart and process narrative.
  • Update OSX, the FCF Risk Management System, with the appropriate risk and controls information.
  • Collate the appropriate information to support the ongoing management of the relationship between the MFCF team and the second and third lines, as well as the external auditor, to ensure effective and collaborative delivery of all financial control related activities.
  • Facilitate and support the operating effectiveness activity performed by the co-sourcing partner.
  • Support the planning and coordination between the co-sourcing partner and control owners.
  • Monitor the operating effectiveness activity to ensure that all FCF requirements are met.
  • Prepare and present relevant management information as instructed by the team’s Senior Managers and Leads to various forums (including divisional control forums and CFOs, and the Model and Financial Control Committee).
  • Chartered Accounting (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA) or equivalent experience 
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting risk and control frameworks
  • Strong conceptual and practical understanding of the risks and processes associated with insurance and asset management businesses
  • Strong conceptual and practical understanding of model and EUC risks
  • Ability to critically challenge technical requirements and to think outside the box to find innovative, practical and commercial solutions to problems
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders
  • Ability to analyse complex problems and propose solutions
  • Ability to work under pressure towards tight deadlines
  • Ability to prioritise and distinguish what really matters amongst a large quantity of information and make judgement calls
  • Ability to create and deliver clear and concise written reports
  • Ability to take existing processes and improve/ simplify
