Are you a Project Manager with extensive experience in Affordable Housing schemes? This is a phenomenal chance to join the East Development Team, in one of the most interesting businesses inside Legal and General, as a Project and Quality Manager.

L&G Affordable Homes is a new wholly owned subsidiary of Legal & General, tasked with bringing much-needed, volume institutional equity capital to the UK social housing sector. Housing is a major growth opportunity for the Legal & General Group and is a high-profile initiative supported by the Board Executive.

In this fast-paced role, your primary responsibility will be to manage the delivery of several affordable schemes, including s106 and package opportunities, from contract to practical completion and snagging. You'll report to the Head of Development within the East region, and will work alongside the customer care team, operations teams, external lawyers, sales team, EA and finance teams to manage projects within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints.

  • Reporting to the Head of Development, and working with Development colleagues and Finance and Operations teams, support the full and successful delivery of s106 and package deal affordable housing schemes.
  • Ensure that the approved contractual arrangements are in place for each project and that the contract arrangements are in accordance with the approvals.
  • Supported by the Team Administrator to ensure that all the relevant consultants for each project are instructed in a transparent and timely manner and ensure that the consultants is effectively managing the schemes and payment processes.
  • Be responsible for the monthly reforecasting of programmes and payments in relation to each scheme to ensure they are in accordance with the approvals.
  • Being responsible for monthly project updates to finance, operations, sales, and customer care, so the other teams can plan their resources in relation to the projects.
  • Administer the contract and payments process in relation to each project.
  • Liaising with the relevant developer of each site, to ensure that all aspects of the development are being implemented in accordance with the agreed contracts, plans and programmes.
  • Conduct any negotiations in a transparent, trustworthy, and honest manner and to ensure the reputation of the company is always safeguarded as well as ensuring that projects are contracted in accordance with the approvals and with the adopted policies and procedures.
  • Effectively plan, monitor, and disburse all items of expenditure in accordance with agreed contracts.
  • Project-manage schemes to ensure they are delivered in accordance with the programme, to a high quality of finish and a high level of customer satisfaction ensuring that these standards are met by all counter parties and only accepting handover of schemes that meet these standards.

To be successful in this position, you will need to be a solution focused, forward thinker, that is highly organised and has excellent planning skills. You'll need the confidence to be proactive and take personal responsibility for decisions and actions in a fast-paced environment.   • Demonstrable experience of project management, and financial management, of affordable housing schemes generally delivered through s106.
  • Knowledge of both social housing and possibly the wider residential sectors, in particular an expert understanding of social housing development, housing management and regulatory requirements.
  • A detailed understanding of contract obligations with commercial awareness and manage, monitor, and control costs, build quality timescales and risk.
  • You will have proven stakeholder management experience with both internal and external stakeholders including developers and house builders.
