We're hiring a Group Model & Financial Control Lead to be responsible for the oversight of the Model & Financial Control Framework (MFCF) across the Legal & General Group. You'll play a key role in ensuring that the MFCF is operating effectively and efficiently across the annual reporting cycle.

You'll engage with stakeholders from across the divisions and Group functions, including divisional and Group Finance senior leadership teams, as well as second and third line team.

This is an initial fixed term contract for 1 year.

 

  • Lead the effective delivery of core elements of MFCF in respect of specific divisions/functions for which the role holder is designated responsibility, specifically: (Risk assessment validation, Independent walkthrough, design effectiveness and operating effectiveness testing, Agreement and rating of deficiencies, as well as associated remediation plans, Oversight of the group end-to-end attestation process, Engagement with key stakeholders so as to facilitate smooth and timely delivery)
  • Manage the day to day activities of the team to ensure effective delivery of MFCF activities and ensure that direct reports are managed in accordance with the Group’s policies and procedures 
  • Operate as a controls business partner in respect of specific divisions/functions for which the role holder is designated responsibility
  • Manage the relationship with second and third lines, as well as the external auditor, to ensure effective and collaborative delivery of all financial control related activities, as well as ensuring transparency around the identification and resolution of issues in line with our treating customers fairly commitment.
  • Support the planning and coordination between the co-sourcing partner and the process and control owners.
  • Review the test results and ensure an accurate and effective assessment of the control environment is performed.
  • Ensure that appropriate remediation is recorded and executed with respect to operating effectiveness issues.
  • Lead the preparation and development of management information to support all aspects, and all key stakeholders (including the Group and legal audit committees, and the Model and Financial Control Committee), of MFCF. Present and deliver on relevant management information to various forums (including divisional control forums and CFOs, and the Model and Financial Control Committee).
  • Play a leading role in the ongoing development of MFCF across the Group, including (but not limited to) Refinement and enhancement of end-to-end methodology (i.e. alignment with UK SOX), Scope of coverage (both financial and non-financial, Governance and review process
  • Chartered Accounting (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA) or equivalent experience 
  • Significant PQE in the insurance sector
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting risk and control frameworks
  • Strong conceptual and practical understanding of the risks and processes associated with insurance and asset management businesses
  • Strong conceptual and practical understanding of model and EUC risks
  • Ability to critically challenge technical requirements and to think outside the box to find innovative, practical and commercial solutions to problems
  • Highly persuasive on technical matters through written and verbal communications
  • Extensive experience of leading, inspiring and motivating teams
  • Ability to analyse complex problems and propose solutions
  • Ability to work under pressure towards tight deadlines
  • Ability to create and deliver clear and concise written reports
  • Ability to take existing processes and improve/ simplify
  • Experience managing a team and presenting key information at committee level, strong stakeholder management skills.
