The Senior European PR Executive will be primarily responsible for supporting LGIM’s European growth strategy from a PR and communications perspective. She/he will work closely with LGIM’s PR and Communications team and the local PR agencies, as well as the wider Marketing team, to implement the wide corporate communications strategy and execute the PR plans in the different European markets.

  • To protect and promote LGIM’s brand and reputation as the global leader in responsible investing by anticipating crisis management situations and identifying opportunities that will enhance the firm’s corporate profile in Europe.
  • To help develop and execute LGIM’s wide media relations strategy PR strategy and PR campaigns for its European business, and promote investment business, ESG and investment stewardship, and product offering in European markets and other markets when needed.
  • To establish and maintain a contact program with key European journalists and thought opinion leaders. Find ways to develop strong relationships with them, whether by organising media events or calls, with the objective to raise LGIM’s profile as the global leader in responsible investing, as well as the leading progressive and innovative asset manager in Europe and beyond.
  • To draft press releases, articles, commentaries, social media posts and other PR and communications documents to the highest standard and with a creative flair. Proofread all written materials to ensure that excellent written communication is achieved.
  • To work with stakeholders, including the members of the European distribution teams, and the wider marketing team to help identify opportunities and create engaging content for dissemination through external media channels (including social media). Carry out research on topics and gather information from a wide range of internal and external sources, including LGIM and L&G influencers, investment, and distribution specialists, to identify news stories and news angles.
  • To understand LGIM’s corporate ambitions to expand its institutional and wholesale/retail proposition in Europe as the industry evolves, helping to position the firm as a thought leader in the sector. The role will also be expected to help drive the PR strategy for LGIM’s Index business and the growing ETF business, as well as to promote the company’s active management capability in European markets
  • To work with the Senior PR Manager (International) to ensure effective day to day management of European PR agencies by ensuring the business, marketing and communications objectives are met. To address media requests obtained through the PR agencies accurately and in a timely manner; manage media enquiries including supply of standard communication content and/or escalate enquiries with the team and stakeholders as appropriate. Host media interviews and brief spokespeople in advance, and help select and coach media spokespeople,
  • To work with European distribution teams to address their requests and enquiries accurately and timely, and to take part in or lead the monthly PR and marketing calls for the different European markets. In due course, act as deputy of the Senior PR Manager (International), in conjunction with the wider PR team, when he is not available.
  • To monitor media coverage daily, and manage reporting on a weekly, quarterly and half of year basis. Manage, together with the other members of the PR team, the distribution of the weekly media coverage emails to the business stakeholders. Ensure that important media coverage affecting the business is shared with the relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree, ideally in PR or journalism

Knowledge:

  •   Knowledge of corporate communication and PR approaches, media & tactics.
  • Broad understanding of the investment industry. Good knowledge and understanding of European and UK media relations practices and the European and UK regulatory environment.
  • In addition to English, one or more European languages relevant to LGIM’s markets is required (for example, German, Italian, Dutch, French or Swedish)
     

Experience:

  • At least three years in a PR/media relations role with a global asset management company or a PR agency serving the investment sector.
  • Experience of helping develop and execute PR strategies and campaigns for a high-profile organisation in European markets
  • Strong relationships with key media contacts in European markets (eg Germany, Ireland, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands and Nordics)

Skills:

  • Ability to handle highly sensitive issues with journalists and to liaise with stakeholders professionally
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and ability to develop content for a variety of audiences
  • Professional, competent, conscientious, credible and working to deadlines
  • Global mindset and delivery, following an integrated approach across the marketing function and within the PR and Communications team
  • In addition to English, one or more European languages relevant to LGIM’s markets is required.

  • Excellent team player, with a strong work ethic, who takes a collaborative and joined-up approach to tasks but is also comfortable working independently.
  • Organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritise effectively, multi-task quickly and efficiently, adapt to new situations in a fast-paced environment
