We have a brand new role at Legal & General due to a period of success and growth.

We are seeking to recruit a Commercial Data Analytics Manger to lead, develop and deliver the data analytics capability for LGI Retail Protection.

The successful incumbent may be a qualified actuary, or relevant experience. and will be responsible for working with IT & Change to ensure delivery of data sets and infra-structure, and designing and implementing analytical models that will improve business processes in order to achieve divisional objectives.

  1. Lead the creation and development  of new data science capabilities within LGI, that enhance and inform risk control and cost reduction in order to inform better business decisions that enable the business to meet plans
  2. Generate ideas and solutions to complex business issues by delivering advanced analytic capabilities by designing and implementing complex analytical models, scoping business requirements and future proofing data sources.
  3. Ensure data integrity by implementing, monitoring and controlling the appropriate levels of data integrity for the purpose of analysis. Seek improvements to data quality, by contributing to system developments and by working with internal & external customers.
  4. Provide concise, clear and well communicated summaries of all analysis and present these findings to key stakeholders and at committees to achieve sign-off for proposals. Provide ongoing education to stakeholders to ensure quality decisions are made.
  5. Manage, motivate and develop employees at all levels within the Analytics team, in a manner that is consistent with the Company’s policies and procedures and in respect of an inclusive culture, including the Partnership Agreement, to maximise the performance of the area.
  6. Provide  advice and guidance to colleagues including where required, providing coaching and development of others such that specialist skills are developed and deployed throughout the organisation. Work closely with other Data Analytics teams and share experiences and knowledge to create a community of best practice.
  7. Treating Customers Fairly: Analyse feedback from all sources to ensure that customers’ reasonable expectations of performance and service are met and where failings are identified, provide information to relevant areas to enable changes to be made.

Qualifications:

  • A qualified actuary or relevant higher level degree in Data Science is desirable, but not essential, or relevant experience

Knowledge:

  • Commercial acumen with an ability to spot opportunities to improve business processes and deliver increased net business value add
  • Knowledge and experience of advanced analytical methods and data manipulation
  • Working knowledge of LGI Products and Processes is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent skills in statistical and modelling programmes such as ‘R’ as well as Data visualisation software such as Tableau / PowerBI

Experience:

  • Practical experience of building and implementing GLM (generalised linear model) and ML (machine learning) models
  • Excellent report writing ability
  • Project management – leading initiatives from initial analysis through to final implementation
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
