Here at Legal & General we are currently recruiting a Senior HR Business Partner to partner with our Group Functions business, contributing to the development and implementation of the overall Group Functions People Plan, through active participation and by leading people programme projects when appropriate/necessary.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join the UK's largest life insurer at a time of exciting change and growth.

  • Create and deliver local plans to supports this ensuring they help deliver to critical business priorities and performance measures.
  • Oversee the Group Functions wide focus on talent management and development, including the facilitation of the relevant business areas talent, succession and capability building activity
  • Work in partnership with the HRD and business leaders to diagnose cultural levers and interventions that will drive the right culture
  • Lead the annual cycle of people activity, including pay review; performance calibration and employee engagement as appropriate to business areas
  • Provide proactive and strategic support and challenge to the senior management team on all aspects of people and organisation development and contribute to the business plan.
  • Support the delivery of the learning and development strategy working with the relevant business leadership and the ‘Talent & Development Centre of Excellence’ to oversee appropriate development interventions.
  • Provide cost effective HR solutions to the business on employee engagement, organisational design/ restructuring, talent and succession management, learning & development, performance management and resource planning
  • Set a framework and metrics for the business units to ensure that business transformation programmes involving people and organisational design improve the efficiency and effectiveness of individual business units
  • Ensure that HR solutions within the business units represent an appropriate balance between external market practice and internal L&G policy and practice.
  • Ensure that individual and team performance across the business units are owned and managed by the business line and facilitate/drive where necessary, a move towards a high performing organisation
  • With the support of the Reward Centre of Excellence, develop and implement appropriate reward strategies for the divisions and relevant business.
  • Ensure Employee Relations within the business unit is managed appropriately for the division and entities
  • Collaborate on aligned people themes and priorities across Group Functions and the wider L&G HR community of expertise.
  • Understanding of how to construct an appropriate HR strategy for the business area
  • Experience of working in FS or dynamic customer focussed organisation.
  • Understanding of Reward methodologies for investment/retirement businesses
  • Understanding of people development methodologies and current best practice
  • Understanding of change management models and how to successfully lead people through change
  • Understanding of OD techniques and how they can be employed to drive organisational and cultural change
  • Experience of driving talent management and building functional talent capability across organisational areas
  • Sound understanding of employment law, generic HR policies and procedures
  • Understanding of project management techniques
  • CIPD or management qualification preferred
  • Experience of leading organisational change with a focus on business re-organisation
  • Influencing senior leaders on HR matters and linking this to business strategy.
  • Experience of providing HR partnership to support function business areas with an awareness of the different challenges that are faced.
  • Development of strategic HR plans including Strategic Workforce Planning for a business area and the subsequent implementation
  • Use of a range of Organisational Development techniques to drive engagement and performance in a business
  • Analysis and interpretation of business focused HR data to enable effective decision making.
  • Exposure to the people aspects of mergers and acquisition including TUPE.
  • Demonstrated conceptual thinking, analytical thinking and strategic thinking abilities
