An exciting opportunity to join the finance leadership team of L&G Affordable Homes as the business continues its impressive growth. As a Senior Investment Manager, you’ll use your sector experience and modelling ability to impact the strategic direction of our investments in the UK. The team is currently London based, but we are happy to discuss flexible working if this is of interest.  

  • Providing high level advice and strategic guidance to senior management, LGAH Boards and investment committees on the performance of residential housing investments. To include:
  1. Financial modelling (corporate level) – construction, adaptation and timely delivery of accurate business plan and scenario analysis for multiple LGAH entities and asset portfolios. Monitor and assess key risks and potential mitigating actions.
  2. Financial modelling (transactions) – modelling support for asset transfers including asset selection and portfolio optimisation. Integration with corporate level planning, reporting and accounting as necessary.
  3. Project management of key aspects of each transaction as required, working together with colleagues throughout L&G as well as advisors and other external stakeholders as necessary.
  4. Production and presentation of high-quality written reports and analysis to senior stakeholders, committees and Boards including assessment of the financial and commercial risks of proposals, application of sensitivity and scenario analysis and recommendation of potential mitigating actions where appropriate.
  • Undertaking feasibility analysis for procurement of a third party financial planning solution. Scoping requirements, leading the design and managing the implementation of the subsequent project.
  • Maintaining and improving processes, systems and data quality related to financial planning and reporting, working with the investment finance team and colleagues from across the business as necessary.
  • As part of the senior Finance leadership, ensure that the team provides high quality analysis and insight, planning and reporting to all stakeholders and comprehensively supports the regulatory regimes that the LGAH businesses are subject to.
  • As required, take lead finance responsibility for major new investment opportunities (organic development, strategic partnerships, joint ventures) providing end-to-end transaction support.

This role will suit someone with outstanding modelling skills and strong technical financial and commercial knowledge in the residential housing industry. You'll need to have the credibility and experience to manage stakeholder relationships effectively and be able to communicate effectively.

Detailed requirements include:

  • Outstanding financial modelling skills with deep demonstrable experience of building complex corporate finance models to an institutional standard
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to deliver change
  • Track record of interacting well with large range of stakeholders including report writing and presentation to senior management and external stakeholders
  • Expert-level knowledge of financial analysis and reporting
  • Detailed understanding of the drivers of profitability
  • Commercial focus, outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience of working within a finance department and using finance and property management systems and databases
  • Experience of working with institutional investors in relation to real estate investments
  • An understanding of real estate related accounting policies and procedures
