An outstanding opportunity has arisen at Legal & General, and we are recruiting for a Portfolio Manager to join us in a key role to our business.

You will develop and manage emerging market and crossover debt investment strategy, backing our LGR business, and this will involve a prime responsibility for conducting fundamental corporate credit, and sector research, and ably assist in portfolio construction, taking full consideration of investment appetite, balance sheet constraints and risk guidelines.

You would also be expected to assist in assessing rating frameworks for new asset classes which LGR considers as strategic.

This is an agile role with flexible working with London based as your home office.

  • Conduct detailed fundamental bottom-up credit research analysis and surveillance on a minimum 30-35 emerging market and crossover debt issuers spanning multiple sectors and  oversee investments and EM portfolio construction of our balance sheet.
  • Proactively generate ideas by screening the emerging market credit universe to derive fixed income opportunities suitable for backing new PRT business.
  • Author timely credit and sector credit research reports along with maintaining financial models and projections for effective oversight of credit risk.
  • Maintain a clear and up to date understanding of S&P, Moody’s and Fitch Corporate and Direct Investment credit rating criteria and framework in addition to LGIM’s own internal credit ratings methodology to understand credit rating process of issuers.
  • Develop an understanding of Group Credit Risk and LGR ESG policies and incorporate these facets into your credit risk assessment and manage L&G’s climate goals.
  •  Assist in devising and scrutinizing rating frameworks for new asset classes which LGR considers as strategic. This will include but is not limited to incorporating digital infrastructure, clean energy and real estate investment strategies.
  • Ensure that all business processes and internal controls within your role are designed and performed in a way that delivers good customer outcomes and demonstrates effective management of Conduct Risk 
  • Work in close collaboration with various stakeholders in the LGR investments team, in particular ALM, new business, IMO and LGIM Annuities.
  • Strong academic credentials: Masters, MBA, CFA would be preferred .
  • Significant knowledge of fixed income and credit
  • Significant experience in fixed income and credit research analysis for investment grade and high yield rated issuers with some exposure to emerging market issuers.
  • Experience in a credit rating agency and a foreign language would be advantageous
  • An ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, delivering to deadlines a team player attitude and self-motivation.
  • Strong organisational and time-keeping skills are highly desirable.
