Legal & General Investment Management; Real Assets is one of the UK’s largest private asset managers with over £35bn AUM as at March 2021 across real estate equity and infrastructure, real estate, corporate and alternative debt. The group takes a long-term strategic view, investing to bring about positive change and creating sustainable investor value.

In 2012, LGIM’s Infrastructure Debt business began to invest in the illiquid infrastructure market focussing initially on debt in the UK for internal clients, subsequently diversifying geographically with investments in Europe, North America and Australia and developing new strategies for a range of internal and external clients.

LGIM Real Assets, and the wider LGIM business, has established a leading position amongst its peer group in taking a market-leading approach to ESG integration.

  • Evaluating new potential investments according to value and suitability for LGIM client funds and their infrastructure portfolios based upon fundamental and detailed investment analysis and understanding the dynamics of the sector.
  • Assisting with the preparation of investment committee papers for new opportunities
  • Involved in full transaction execution including financial modelling analysis, undertaking due diligence, negotiation of key terms and documentation
  • Pro-actively managing the existing investments by preparing and reviewing regular reports and managing waivers and approvals according to the relevant procedures.
  • Assisting with the management of key internal and external counterparty and borrower relationships
  • Supporting the marketing process to new investor clients where required as well as helping with the marketing of infrastructure investment solutions to borrowers, public sector counterparties and other market participants.
  • Supporting the formulation of new business initiatives and of the investment strategy for the sector in particular identifying transactions and sub-sectors that could be appropriate investment targets for LGIM clients.
  • Assisting in supporting the provision of on-going client reporting and contribute to the periodic review of infrastructure procedures.
  • Assisting with the ongoing development and incorporation of ESG methodologies into the investment appraisal / decision-making and ongoing management process
  • Some infrastructure debt asset management experience, ideally focussing on Europe and the US across a wide range of infrastructure sub-sectors including transport, energy, social and telecom / digital infrastructure.
  • Strong financial analysis and transaction skills – credit structuring, rating methodology and / or financial advisory experience being particularly relevant
  • You must be flexible and responsive with a keen attention to detail.  The role is a dynamic where large numbers of transactions are reviewed in order to screen out poor value or unsuitable investments and the ability to execute transactions to achieve the required credit rating level and value is critical.
  • You will need to be organised, focused, demonstrate independent thinking and self-motivated with strong communication and analytical skills.
  • It is necessary to be able to work with a variety of investment formats and also to be able to develop a transaction entirely in house if need be.
  • Strong financial modelling skills are an advantage and detailed knowledge of the different investment documentation and structures appropriate to the various sub-sectors is also important.
  • Strong working knowledge of debt markets and products with a focus on infrastructure
  • Strong academic background, with an ability to work on your own initiative but also in a team

Whatever your role, we reward ability, performance and attitude with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Our employees have a wide range of benefits including a generous pension scheme, life assurance, at least 25 days’ holiday (with potential to rise to 26 days), private medical insurance, performance related bonuses, a variety of share schemes, discounts at both a huge range of high street stores and our own great products. Your hard work will be rewarded when you join us.
