In 2012, LGIM’s Infrastructure Debt business began to invest in the illiquid infrastructure market focussing initially on debt in the UK for internal clients, subsequently diversifying geographically with investments in Europe, North America and Australia and developing new strategies for a range of internal and external clients.

Responsibilities of the asset manager will include, but not be limited to, the following activities in relation to the European Infrastructure Debt portfolio:

  • Ensuring that investment assets are appropriately monitored and managed in line with policies and procedures and ensuring optimal preservation of value for LGIM clients
  • Responsible for asset monitoring, financial performance and covenant compliance (and associated reporting) for the infrastructure debt portfolio, including analysis of reports, compliance certificates, accounts, budgets, amongst others and engagement and coordination of funder calls
  • Making regular site visits (particularly for greenfield / construction phase / major capex projects)
  • Producing regular credit reviews working with the investment team when required
  • Coordinating interactions with the credit rating and portfolio management teams in respect of the existing portfolio, and producing related deliverables
  • Being responsible for coordination of and leading workstreams in relation to amendments and waivers and production of documents and investment committee papers where applicable, and according to the relevant procedures
  • Producing and delivering of regular updates for the portfolio including focus lists, waiver and construction logs 
  • Liaising with teams across LGIM to ensure data procedures and risk monitoring are in line with group policy, and involvement in projects on occasions
  • Working with the Investment Team to ensure pro-active engagement with Borrowers and monitoring their credit performance
  • Significant infrastructure debt asset management experience, ideally focussing on Europe and the US across a wide range of infrastructure sub-sectors including transport, energy, social and telecom / digital infrastructure.
  • Strong financial analysis skills – understanding of credit risk, rating methodology and ability to analyse/sensitise financial models
  • Evidence of extensive market-focused Asset Management and Loan Administration experience, including management of challenging or distressed situations and / or restructurings
  • Strong working knowledge of debt markets and products with a focus on infrastructure
  • Flexible and responsive with a keen attention to detail
  • Organised, focussed and self-motivated with strong communication and analytical skills
  • Strong technical skills across spreadsheet, powerpoint and word applications
  • Strong academic background, with an ability to work on your own initiative but also in a team
