We are excited to be recruiting for a HR Business Partner to join us at here at Legal & General.

Reporting into, and supporting, the Senior HRBP for LGIM Chief of Staff, Risk & Compliance and Finance & Legal, you will be based in Cardiff or London on an agile working arrangement.

This is an integral role to partner with the three business’s Leadership Team to develop, influence, lead and deliver the HR priorities for the business.

Principal accountabilities:

Strategy & Planning

  • Support the Senior HRBP in driving the development and implementation of the overall People Plan in line with LGIM’s Strategic Pillars (Modernise, Diversify, Internationalise) through active participation and by leading people programme projects which includes:
    • Resource planning
    • Talent and succession
    • Learning & Development
    • Organisation design & capability
    • Performance & employee development
    • Reward & Pay Review
    • ER & Policy development/initiatives
  • Via the Senior HRBP provide an active contribution to LGIM HR strategy
  • Identify, analyses and interpret ‘people’ related MI for the purpose of influencing the BU people plan and stakeholders
  • Drive and support the organisation wide focus on talent management and development, including the facilitation of the relevant business areas talent and succession planning activity.
  • With the support of the Reward teams, support the Senior HRBP in developing and implementing appropriate reward strategies for the relevant business areas.

Service Delivery Excellence

  • Supports on the recruitment & selection for key senior roles within the business area, influencing the selection process and methodologies adopted
  • Fully supports and drives the annual talent and succession planning programme for the BU in-line with LGIM defined approach
  • Lead on people related organisational change requirements within the BU as appropriate.
  • Play a key role in the delivery of the annual pay review process for the BU in line with corporate guidelines.
  • Work with leadership teams to ensure the annual performance management and development planning programme for the BU and ensure all managers are equipped with the appropriate skills to review performance, set objectives and enable development.
  • Proactively drives the development of people management capability with line managers to reduce reliance on HR.
  • Undertake ad hoc initiatives/specific work as directed/required by the senior HRBP.
  • Work with Employee Communications team to ensure high level of employee engagement within the BU.
  • Undertakes BU HR projects or people change management work as directed by the Senior HRBP e.g. restructures, mergers, acquisitions.
  • Assists with the development of reward strategies for the business area, with the support of the Reward Consultant.
  • Working with Finance partner, manage resource planning and provide input into the annual budget, ensuring balance between cost efficiencies, organizational requirements and optimal performance.
  • Work with the organisation L&D team to identify and deliver core L&D requirements for BU to develop organizational capability.
  • Support HR policies and frameworks and ensure BU engagement with them, or challenge if policies and frameworks are not fit for purpose/need changing.
  • Ensure Employee Relations climate is understood within the Business area and local jurisdictions. Work closely with Unite (in the UK), local reps and managers to champion and demonstrate working in partnership and its benefits.
  • Work pro-actively and collaboratively the HR Business Partners across the wider LGIM HR team on team projects.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider L&G HRBP population on centrally led activities as and when required.

Relationship and Stakeholder Management

  • Provide proactive support and challenge to the leadership teams across the UK on all aspects of people and organisation development and contribute to the business plan.
  • Use skills of judgement and risk assessment in ad hoc initiatives and BAU processes.
  • Builds strong relationships with the BU Leadership Team where the BP role is established as a contributing member adding significant value to the business strategy.
  • Builds strong relationships with wider LGIM, LGAS HR team
  • Encourages co-operation and communication within peer group and across teams and shares key initiatives to drive corporate goals.

Qualifications:

  • Degree level qualification
  • CIPD qualification preferred.

Knowledge:

  • Essential experience in and understanding of employment law, generic HR policies and procedures and setting up and partnering with overseas offices.
  • Understanding of TUPE and experience of the people aspects of mergers and acquisition preferred.
  • Understanding of people development methodologies and current best practice
  • Financial Services industry experience is essential and ideally within Asset Management.
  • Strong prior experience of providing HRBP support to a central function.

Experience:

  • Experience of leading organisational change with a focus on talent management, organisation design and culture change
  • Understanding and practical application of project management techniques
  • Influencing senior leadership teams on HR matters and linking this to business strategy.
  • Experience of providing effective HR partnership to support the business with an awareness of the different challenges that are faced.
  • Tech savvy and comfortable navigating & fully utilizing various HR IT systems.
  • Understanding of a range of organisational development techniques to drive engagement, business performance and culture change.  
  • Capability to source, gather, analyse and interpret business focused HR data to enable effective decision making.
  • Experience of managing and implementing pay review, performance management, talent & succession planning programmes for functional areas.
  • Comprehensive experience of managing complex employee relations and conflict resolution in a commercially focused way.
  • Able to operate within a matrix style organisation managing differing expectations of stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence senior management via a commercial approach for the purposes of driving continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated conceptual, analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Experience of working in a matrix organisation across.
