We are looking for a Model Developer to join our team in Hove. As a Model Developer you’ll be making changes to the Prophet models and associated tools and code that are used to perform pricing and valuation for the L&G life business. 

As part of a project team, you’ll be involved in a number of different projects at any time, ranging from enhancements to existing reporting methodologies, through to the incorporation of new products and legislatively driven requirements. 

  • You'll be implementing development changes identified in the requirements documents in line with the agreed work (covering both technical and documentation changes)
  • Completing all testing activities defined in the project plan, ensuring that all test preparation documentation is complete before undertaking testing, and that the test completion reports are completed to document tests undertaken and their success
  • Preparing all project and test documentation (unit / system / integration) ensuring it is complete, accurate and adheres to current best practice standards L&G's development standards and methodology
  • You'll be actively managing your time and workload and will be responsible for escalating issues and risks of likely deviation from agreed plans at the earliest opportunity to the Project Manager and the Actuarial Technical Lead and agree options for resolution
  • Providing appropriate input to the project status reports as and when requested by the Project Manager ensuring they are complete and accurately reflect the development status of the project / work package
  • Development of Prophet to an advanced level (and other actuarial modelling software).
  • Very good knowledge of Prophet development within a large life insurer
  • Experience of wider actuarial development (eg SQL, DCS etc)
  • Knowledge of a range of reporting metrics
  • Experience in an annuities and life insurance business
  • Actuarial Finance systems and processes
  • Excellent collaboration skills and experience of working as part of a team
  • Ability to produce documentation of development and testing
  • Good communication, personal planning and organisation skills
  • Ability to show initiative in applying good problem solving and analytical skills
  • A practical and hands on approach

The role you are applying to is for a specific location, but to further develop and enhance your skills you may be asked to rotate in future to our other site. Our sites are London and Hove.
