Are you a Tax Manager with a good understanding of tax accounting for real estate entities and transactions?

Working closely with our Fund Accountants and Finance Business Partners, you will take ownership of non-resident capital gains tax compliance,  be responsible for the completion and filing of UK corporation tax and oversee the VAT compliance process. 

Part time candidates considered

  • Responsible for the completion and filing of UK corporation tax and partnership tax returns, submission of relevant claims and elections, management of tax payments and correspondence with HMRC for all entities in the Real Asset funds.
  • Responsible for monitoring tax payments including the calculation of quarterly instalment payments and ensuring timely payment to HMRC.
  • Working with the wider Group Tax compliance team to ensure group relief is claimed correctly and input into the group relief settlement process.
  • Taking ownership of non-resident capital gains tax compliance and where appropriate managing the outsourcing.
  • Resolution of technical compliance matters for UK entities, including technical analysis, drafting internal documentation and correspondence, and liaison with internal and external stakeholders including HMRC.
  • Ensuring compliance and relevant filings for direct tax, withholding tax, FATCA, construction industry scheme and ATED.
  • Overseeing the VAT compliance process completed by the Fund Accountants for the Real Assets Funds, and managing adhoc Real Assets VAT compliance projects with technical input from the Group VAT Manager. Submitting VAT registration documents where appropriate for new funds, and overseeing the Option to Tax process.
  • Identify opportunities for capital allowances within the LGIM Real Assets funds and identify areas in the current capital allowances process that can be streamlined.
  • Ensure that appropriate risk management controls / procedures are in place to manage all property tax compliance risks (including those inherited from acquired structures) on an ongoing basis.
  • Reviewing tax disclosures for statutory accounts including deferred tax calculations and assist with providing information for tax audits.
  • Providing regular tax updates to the LGIM Real Assets team and wider tax team regarding property tax legislation developments impacting the business.

Professional knowledge and qualifications

  • Professional Accounting Qualification (e.g. ACA or ACCA) and/or Taxation qualification (e.g. CTA) with a solid level of post qualification property tax experience within a large corporate or practice.

Technical skills

  • Experience in preparing and submitting corporation and income tax compliance with a good understanding of tax accounting for real estate entities and transactions.
  • Knowledge of non-resident capital gains tax.
  • Knowledge of the VAT compliance process and option to tax.
  • Knowledge of UK Taxes Acts covering corporation tax, income tax, VAT, IPT, NIC and stamp duty to the extent that they apply to the entities in the LGIM Real Asset funds where tax responsibility is held.
  • Knowledge of Jersey Property Unit Trust fund structures.
  • Knowledge of the tax aspects of IFRS.
  • Up to date working knowledge or prepared to acquire it of all proposed current financial developments and their potential impact, including International Accounting Standards.

  • Works to build contacts within the organisation.
