The Compliance Manager will work as part of the Compliance team to provide high quality advisory compliance support to the LGIM regulated entities. 

The Compliance Manager will work as part of the Compliance team to provide high quality advisory compliance support to the LGIM(H) regulated entities.  The manager will be required to provide independent compliance advice, guidance and training to LGIM’s businesses, specifically for LGIM’s UK and European product providers and their range of UCITS Funds and Alternative Investment Funds in the UK, Ireland and Luxembourg. The role holder will also be required to deliver effective 2nd line challenge to the respective product provider’s approach to managing their risks, including ensuring that the conduct risk framework, policies and processes are embedded.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Manage the provision of compliance advice and guidance on new projects, products, propositions, services and other initiatives to ensure the delivery of fair customer outcomes, and appropriate risk mitigation in line with the LGIM conduct risk appetite.
  2. Review and provide timely advice about disclosure and reporting for UCITS and AIF product providers within the LGIM Group.
  3. Provide advice and guidance to the business on regulatory change, including preparing responses and inputting to lobbying proposals to ensure early awareness of initiatives and effective identification and management of new and changing regulatory risks.  High level of business engagement required.
  4. Ensure necessary matters are reported to the respective UCITS and AIF product providers as appropriate, attending governance meetings as required.
  5. Develop and maintain effective and close working relationships with the relevant business areas and other group risk and compliance teams to ensure effective co-ordination of work to manage regulatory developments impacting UCITS and AIFs, so that all material regulatory risks are identified and managed within agreed risk appetite.
  6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements, industry best practice and developments, sharing knowledge with the wider Legal & General Group as appropriate.
  7. Work with other compliance team members and business colleagues to promote a good compliance culture within LGIM (H) firms so that regulatory expectations are met.
  8. Work with the CCO and other compliance colleagues to successfully manage LGIM’s compliance function and work, by proactively developing effective and efficient methods and tools to manage compliance work and supporting/covering fellow team members on an ad hoc basis.
  • Appropriate university degree in Business/Legal disciplines.
  • Coding or IT qualifications highly regarded.
  • Has held a similar role in another financial services firm.
  • Good understanding of rules applying to UCITS and AIF Product Providers in Ireland and the UK.
  • Ability to analyse and advise on emerging regulatory risks and how they might impact our business e.g. EU regulatory developments, changes in Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) and UK FCA policy and industry best practice.
  • Good regulatory knowledge and experience of CBI and FCA rules and practical application.
  • Experience of interpreting and applying regulatory rules to practical scenarios and helping to devise compliant, commercially acceptable solutions.
  • Ability to carry out well-structured investigations, monitoring or project work with clear objectives and findings.
  • Good knowledge of products and fund management activities.
  • Strong awareness of Legal & General’s business model and strategy.
  • Good awareness of the wider business and regulatory environment and ability Has experience in presenting reports to senior management and clients.
  • Ability to manage internal and external relationships and balance / prioritise work load.
