This is a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Solution Architect to help deliver change in a legacy IT landscape. You will be help define solution architectures for end to end technology solutions across the GFIT (Group Finance IT)  project portfolio and Ensure alignment to GFIT) technology strategy, roadmap, enterprise architecture, policies and standards. This is a project role so would require understanding how we bring in new capabilities and changing solutions we already have. We’d ideally like to hear from candidates with AWS experience.

Principal accountabilities:

1.            You will have ownership to ensure the solutions designed, developed and deployed are fit for purpose and fit for use, meet the business requirements and adhere to quality standards, delivering value within cost constraints.

2.           You will lead the analysis of technology solution options with associated costs, risks and conduct gap analysis, and proof of concepts for new solutions, as appropriate.

3.            Clearly communicate solution designs, key design decisions and approaches to interested parties, stakeholders, project bodies and relevant governance / assurance forums including the Design Authority (DA) to support effective decision-making.

4.            You will oversee, lead and drive solution development including implementation engagement as needed. Apply knowledge of technology options and survey external market landscape for solution insights, direction, and vendors, as required.

5.            Assess and select packaged solutions in partnership with the business, IT procurement and Managed Service Providers. This will include producing IT review documents to ensure that due diligence is performed when selecting a specific solution and operating model.

6.            Collaborate across IT disciplines both within Group Finance and across the whole of L&G to align architecture solutions, reduce risk, and deliver shareholder value.

7.            Treating Customers Fairly – ensure that our application estate has core values embedded around ensuring value is provided fairly to all of our customers.

8.            Identify and champion opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in the strategic application of technology

Qualifications, knowledge and skills:

Qualifications:  

•             TOGAF or similar certification is desirable

•             Related degree is desirable or demonstrable equivalent experience

•             ITIL certification would be an advantage

Knowledge:       

Required demonstrable knowledge of:

•             Design and architectural patterns.

•             IT industry standards

•             IT governance

•             SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, API, open data, micro services, event driven IT

Knowledge of at least one of the following:

•             Finance System

•             Actuarial Systems

•             Insurance industry

The following are desirable:

•             Working in regulated industry including FCA, PRA

•             Predictive analytics and business intelligence/analytics

Experience:       

Mandatory experience:

•             Leading solution architecture across mid to large projects (£10m)

•             Cloud deployed solutions (SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS)

•             Working closely with development teams to realise the solution

•             Working closely with infrastructure teams to realise solution

•             Experience of waterfall and agile delivery paradigms

•             Ability to develop and project a positive image of the IT function and company through interpersonal, written and verbal communications to a wide range of audiences

•             Proven ability to build successful working relationships and networks

Desired experience:      

•             Broad technology experience in finance sector

•             Strong experience in at least 3 disciplines - business, information, solution or technical architecture, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management or operations in a multi-tier environment

Leadership:       

•             Thought leader on Solution Architecture, able to paint a compelling image of the future IT capability and it’s desirability
