Working at a strategic level closely with stakeholders, business representatives and subject matter experts to plan technology systems and solutions that are aligned with L&G business strategy. This will involve the defining and mapping of business needs to IT capabilities and the planning of a roadmap to satisfy these needs

Working with the Solution Architects to govern IT solutions, to meet the Enterprise Architecture vision and satisfy IT standards.

 
  • Enterprise Architecture: develop, maintain and communicate the Enterprise Architecture and the IT roadmap, aligning the departments Vision with the business strategy. Responsible for ongoing management of the IT roadmap, investment and implementation plan and ensure that the IT architecture is appropriate to business requirements and IT strategy
  • Solution Architecture and Governance: lead governance of the Solution Architecture and Project Solutions to assure compliance to the IT Roadmap, Patterns and Policies, wider Enterprise Architecture and IT Standards, through management and organisation of reviews, consultancy and design authorities
  • Architecture Artefacts: accountable for the delivery of high quality architectural artefacts which clearly explain the Enterprise Architecture and decisions behind it
  • Stakeholders: establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with L&G’s business leaders, product owners, and end users to proactively assist in the design of the GFIT change portfolio. Provide consultancy for stakeholders on sequencing and dependencies to inform the design and planning across the portfolio of change
  • IT Strategy:  support the development and communication of the IT Strategy for Group Finance, ensuring articulation of architectural design principles that guide technology decisions for Group Finance and align with, and help achieve, enterprise principles and business strategy
  • Architecture Practice: take an active role in contributing to the effectiveness of the architecture practice through developing improved ways of working, in collaboration with other practices across L&G to share best practice. This will include collaborating with and coaching less experienced architects and colleagues from teams outside of the architecture practice to communicate the architectural roadmap, supporting the continuous improvement of the department as a whole
  • Technology Trends and Supplier: lead analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise architecture and potential for Group Finance vision and strategy. Work with suppliers to understand their future vision and strategy andbuild supplier partnerships to gain the best outcome for the enterprise, working with Senior Supplier Manager
  • Treating Customers Fairly - ensure that the department architectural roadmap has core values embedded around ensuring value is provided fairly to all of our customers

Qualifications:  

•             Degree in business, computer science, systems analysis or demonstrable equivalent experience at this level

•             ITIL, TOGAF or similar certification preferred

Knowledge:       

•             The regulatory environment, including FCA, PRA is desirable   

•             Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture and IT roadmap design

•             Knowledge and experience of IT industry standards, IT governance

•             Knowledge of business models, operating models, financial models, budgeting and risk management

•             Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, API, open data, micro services, event driven IT and predictive analytics and business intelligence/analytics.

•             Exposure and understanding of existing and emerging new technologies and processing environment

Experience:       

•             Experienced IT architect with broad technology experience in finance sector, formulating IT Strategy and Governance, Standards, Procedures and Policies

•             Experience of using Capability-based planning approach to IT roadmap design

•             Strategic thinking, taking a broader view of situations, with demonstrable knowledge of architecture governance through the use of enterprise architecture artefacts including principles, policies, views, viewpoints and building blocks

•             Vendor and technology neutral – more interested in business outcomes

•             Ability to develop and project a positive image of the IT function and company through interpersonal, written and verbal communications to a wide range of audiences, having a practical, common sense approach to delivering successful, collaborative outcomes.

•             Proven practical approach in supporting the business achieved business vision and targeted outcomes through IT solutions and innovation

•             Track record of designing IT Roadmaps of £multimillion solutions  across an enterprise

•             Excellent stakeholder management skills. Building engagement with senior stakeholders, landing difficult messages and selling the architectural vision

•             Experience of working with and influencing senior stakeholders as thought leader
