We're looking for a Finance Manager to join our team here in Cardiff. The role would be well suited to Qualified or Experience Accountant with a good understanding of the financial and regulatory environment that LGIM operates within.

  • Maintain and develop controls and processes to ensure that all income related transactions for PMC are calculated and recorded accurately and where necessary, settled effectively.
  • Prepare month end journals for Sun and MI analysis to facilitate production of the month end accounts to ensure completeness of income.
  • Oversee the production and review of client invoices ensuring that a robust control framework is maintained to support the preparation of accurate calculations in line with contractual terms.
  • Liaising with Client Relationship Teams and Client Relationship Managers to ensure any changes to policies are implemented in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Oversee the debtor recovery process from clients. Ensuring clients are paying debts in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of ad hoc work to investigate and address issues raised by Client Relationship Managers or Business Partners
  • Oversee the development of automation procedures and implement a robust control framework over these procedures to improve efficiencies in the current processes and mitigate risks.
  • Creating innovative solutions over operational problems that improve overall processes and interrogation of data for the team and various stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly Debtor and Invoice Status MI, ensuring that all debtors accounts have been fully analysed.
  • Assist in the regular reconciliation of debtor accounts to ensure that the accounting system matches the invoicing system.
  • Support the Senior Finance Manager with any new responsibilities that may emerge.
  • Ensure ongoing training is provided to all relevant staff to enable sales and administration processes to be followed effectively and efficiently, so that customers are treated fairly when they are changing product, switching provider, submitting a claim or making a complaint.
  • To manage the team in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, including the Partnership Agreement, so that the team’s business objectives are achieved consistently.
  • Accountancy Qualification - Qualified or experienced accountant with some post qualification experience in a finance or control environment.
  • Regulatory Environment - Understanding of EU, UK and other regulations impacting LGIM’s product set and business..
  • Understanding of Financial products - Understanding of the Financial product set, including awareness of product features, characteristics, purpose and profit dynamics.
  • Policies, procedures and control environment - Understanding of and ability to interpret and apply Policies and Procedures.
  • Understanding of Fiancial processes and techniques.
  • Financial accounting - Understanding and application of relevant accounting standards. Awareness of key tax legislation.
  • Excel - Ability to use Excel to analyse financial information
  • Personal Effectiveness – Ability to schedule and prioritise personal tasks to meet timescales. Ability to work as an effective member of team e.g. demonstrate sensitivity/empathy. Ability to influence others and operate in a complex matrix structure.
  • Communication - Ability to create and deliver clear and concise written or verbal reports. Ability to adapt style and approach to suit audience.
  • Influence - Using logical arguments and data to challenge peers and managers. Negotiation of satisfactory outcomes.
  • Judgement - Clarification of objectives, aims, timescales and required outcomes. Obtaining appropriate factual data to assist in decision making and seeking input from relevant parties. Balancing risk and reward dynamics to assess the consequences of decisions. Clear communication of decisions reached.
  • Team Working - Effective management of tasks/assignments through involvement of direct team members and other L&G areas. Setting of clear goals, assigning tasks to members of the team and monitoring progress to achieve a timely and quality result.
  • IT Skills - Good knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint and Word is required for this role. The role holder will be expected to develop knowledge of SUN, SCOPE, Business Objects, iLID, Folio and Salesforce.
  • Tolerance of Pressure - Particularly during the busy month-end period, the jobholder will be required to manage a variety of different deliverables concurrently. The ability to cope with periods of high pressure is therefore a key skill for this role.
  • Strong Motivation - The jobholder should show a willingness and desire to surpass expectations and to proactively expand their knowledge
