Purpose of Role:

To be a core member of L&G’s Group Financial Crime (GFC) team, leading and/or supporting a number of programs across the GFC framework to help combat the financial crime risks facing Legal & General Group plc.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. To take a leading and/or supporting role with respect to programs related to the GFC ‘Governance, Policy & Advisory’ sub-function, which include, for example:

  • Drafting and maintaining Financial Crime Policies, Procedures and Guidelines to ensure L&G’s compliance with all relevant Laws and Regulations
  • Tracking Regulatory Developments and updating Financial Crime Policies, Procedures and Guidelines as required
  • Providing advice and guidance to the L&G Divisions with respect to Financial Crime Policies, Procedures and Guidelines
  • Maintaining a framework for Financial Crime Governance & Oversight across L&G Group
  • Designing and delivering Financial Crime related Training and Awareness in line with GFC’s Training & Awareness framework

2. To work collaboratively with other GFC Team members who may be addressing other programs, within other GFC sub-functions, as part of the GFC Framework, to ensure alignment.

3. To take an active role in other ad-hoc GFC initiatives which may arise and fall within GFC’s responsibilities, as required.

4. To work collaboratively with wider Group Conduct Risk team-members, and stakeholders across the L&G operating divisions and group functions in the execution of accountabilities 1-5.

5. Subject to mutual agreement between you and the Group Financial Crime Director, you may rotate within GFC to another sub-function for an agreed period of time in order to develop your skills and to help build resilience and knowledge transference across GFC.

6. Treating Customers Fairly: work with the new ‘Governance, Policy & Advisory’ sub-function which is being created within Group Financial Crime to design and ensure delivery of suitable training to staff to enable them to meet their requirements under policy with respect to financial crime Risk & Controls programs.

Commercial

  • General knowledge of the following products/sectors:

- Insurance & Assurance

- Investment Management

- Other Financial Services

  • Sufficient commercial perspective and overall knowledge of business sectors in which L&G operates.

L&G Specific

  • Knowledge of L&G structure and reporting
  • Knowledge of the products and services that L&G offers.

Financial Crime Legal/Regulatory

  • Good knowledge of UK Regulatory and legislative framework with respect to Financial Crime covering: Sanctions, AML/CTF, Fraud, ABC, CCO, Insider Dealing and Market Abuse.
  • Some knowledge of non-UK Regulatory and legislative frameworks with respect to Financial Crime covering: Sanctions, AML/CTF, Fraud, ABC, CCO, Insider Dealing and market Abuse.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of financial crime policies and procedures covering: Sanctions, AML/CTF, Fraud, ABC, CCO, Insider Dealing and market Abuse.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of key financial crime risks affecting the Financial Services industry and specifically the Insurance & Assurance, and Investment Management sectors therein, relating to: Sanctions, AML/CTF, Fraud, ABC, CCO, Insider Dealing and market Abuse. 
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the key financial crime controls typically implemented by firms that operate in the Financial Services industry and specifically the Insurance & Assurance, and Investment Management sectors therein, relating to: Sanctions, AML/CTF, Fraud, ABC, CCO, Insider Dealing and market Abuse. 
  • Experience in leading/supporting financial crime investigations.
  • Experience in producing financial crime reports and management information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure high quality delivery of management information and presentations in meetings and other forums.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work effectively, both individually and within a team.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with management and external parties
  • Ability to deliver practical solutions to problems and implement improvements to systems, processes or controls.
  • Ability to work with other compliance team members and business colleagues to promote a good conduct risk and compliance culture so that regulatory expectations are exceeded
  • Ability to be proactive in approach to contribute to the continual development and enhancement of a comprehensive Financial Crime Risk framework.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent
  • 6+ years’ experience of having held relevant financial crime roles within large complex organisations.
