The Enterprise Risk Manager is responsible for ensuring that the risk framework in LGC is appropriate for the risks that the division faces and for overseeing the implementation and embedding of the framework in operating businesses and the division centrally.

The Enterprise Risk Manager is responsible for ensuring that the risk framework in LGC is appropriate for the risks that the division faces and for overseeing the implementation and embedding of the framework in operating businesses and the division centrally.

  • Contributes to organisational risk management strategies and oversees their implementation.  Manages and advises on improvements to risk management practice and associated changes; liaises with internal and external stakeholders
  • Leading the development of the LGC risk framework and associated policies and procedures to ensure that it remains appropriate and relevant for the risks that the division faces in line with Group policies and relevant regulation, including Legal & General’s Customer Experience and TCF policy.
  • Overseeing and reporting on the implementation and embedding of the risk framework in the operating companies and LGC centrally.
  • Manages and advises on improvements to risk management in LGC through keeping abreast of best practice in the Group and externally. 
  • Maintaining the enterprise risk register.  Working with 1st line management to ensure that both top down and bottom up risks are identified and managed, both in LGC centrally and in operating businesses.

  • Responsible for risk management systems in LGC, ensuring that Group systems are understood and utilised by 1st and 2nd line effectively and efficiently, and developing and maintaining LGC risk systems for risks that are specific to LGC.
  • Report to LGC risk committee on the management and oversight of risks within the division (including conduct and customer risks), and act as co-ordinator for the committee.
  • Provide independent advice, challenge and oversight of risk taking activities in the LGC central support teams and provide expert 2nd line advice, challenge and oversight in specific risk areas, for example financial crime, new product development.

Qualifications, knowledge and skills:

  • Degree level or equivalent experience
  • Relevant professional qualification an advantage
  • Risk frameworks in financial services sector
  • Extensive experience in financial services or risk
