We are looking for under graduates who can answer “yes” to the above for our 2020 Actuarial Summer internships/ Year in Industry. If you are successful you will join Legal & General’s well-regarded actuarial community, which plays a pivotal role in our continued success.

Actuarial work is central to ensuring a profitable, well run insurance business and your work will support the success of a FTSE 100 company. Our actuaries work throughout business measuring, predicting and managing areas of the business with the aim of giving its customers ‘value for money’.

Work Duties would include:

  • Collecting and analysing market data to provide insight and aide the pricing actuaries in setting insurance prices.
  • Summarising performance of insurance products to present to senior management to aid in decision making.
  • Support the actuaries in product developments, commercial deals and pricing innovations.


You must have a grade 'A' in A-Level Mathematics and be predicted a minimum of a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) within a numerate subject. However, we will also be looking for much more, including good communication, personal planning and organisation skills, plus the ability to work closely with others. You will need to show strong initiative in applying problem solving and analytical skills. Overall the successful candidate will be enthusiastic, inquisitive, adaptable and a good team player.

Note this is a 1 year industry placement starting from August/September 2020. 

  • You must have an A or above in A-Level Maths
  • You must be on track to get a 2:1 or above in a numerate degree
  • Applicant must be looking for a work placement as they study towards a numerical based degree.
  • Strong Excel skills and some experience of coding (VBA/R) are preferable.
