To lead on the financial accounting, reporting and control for specific legal entities under the FRC remit providing timely high quality deliverables with appropriate analysis and commentary.

To act as a key contact for the STARR teams SME input to projects and change initiatives, drawing on the wider SME knowledge and resources of the team as necessary/appropriate.

Delivery Management

Lead the statutory and/or regulatory reporting process for specific legal entities, delivering high quality financial reporting, analysis, commentary and disclosures to meet Group Finance and other agreed customer requirements. Co-ordination of inputs from all other teams involved to agreed timescales.

All reporting to be performed to agreed levels of accuracy, with appropriate liaison with Group technical resources and external auditors. Timescale and process efficiencies to be delivered through simplification and automation with an innovative and proactive approach.

Take ownership of issue resolution during reporting production, ensuring communication with key stakeholders and appropriate reconciliation and consolidation of key metrics. Escalation of significant issues on a timely basis.

Maintain relationship with the Auditors ensuring all requirements are delivered to agreed quality levels, as agreed in collaboration with the Head of FRC.

 

Customer Relationship Management

Maintain and proactively develop relationships with key customers on reporting and regulatory issues, including input on reporting requirements and deadlines, with effective communication and presentation of results.

Ensure the delivery of financial results meets or exceeds needs and quality expectations of key stakeholders. Deliver ongoing production process and timescale improvements.

Own the relationships with Business Finance teams as relevant for assigned legal entities, ensuring their future reporting requirements and needs are understood and where agreed prioritised and built into planned development. Advise on technical issues within a financial reporting framework.

 

Process Management

 

Enhance the existing financial control framework ensuring clear and visible reconciliations and robust controls embedded and pro-actively managed.

 

Lead financial reporting process issue resolution and risk management effectively through pro-active collaboration across finance and business teams

 

Take ownership of finding solutions and resolving issues with support of Head of FRC, proactively collaborating, influencing and challenging as appropriate

 

Planning

Take ownership of production activity planning for relevant areas, driving adherence to agreed requirements in terms of timeliness and quality.

Contribute to resource planning for the team, ensuring resources are appropriately deployed between production, project and change requirements.

 

People Management

Develop skills and capabilities within team through personal development, talent recruitment and performance management.

Line management responsibility for assigned employees. Ensure that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures.

Clearly explain complex financial reporting processes in simple terms aiding knowledge sharing and development.

Projects & Change Management

To act as a key contact for the STARR team on projects and change initiatives, drawing on the wider SME knowledge and resources of the team as necessary/appropriate.

Provide financial reporting insight to projects, ensuring requirements for ledgers and reporting are thoroughly considered and included in project plans, assessing knock on impacts and sharing with the wider team on a timely basis.

Treating Customers Fairly

Ensure that the appropriate Finance MI, processes and systems are in place to provide support to Group Finance, Prudential Risk, Annuities and Group Tax so that customers are treated fairly in line with Legal & General’s Customer Experience and TCF policy.

Internal Relationship management

Maintain a positive and constructive relationship with relevant internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure deliverables are understood and planned for seamless integration into the operations and financial reporting processes.

Key internal relationships Group Tax, Fund Accounting, Accounting Operations, Group Finance Technical.

Contribute to TRC discussions and recommendations from a financial reporting viewpoint as required.

 

Qualifications

Qualified Accountant with 5+ years post qualified experience in a financial services environment, preferably with a life insurer

Knowledge

Financial Reporting: 

Strong knowledge of existing STARR reporting processes

Extensive  knowledge of current IFRS reporting requirements, working knowledge of upcoming standards and proposals

Regulatory Reporting:  Good knowledge of requirements of PRA and FCA.  

Change Management:  Working knowledge of the principles of change management

Skills

Proven financial reporting and analytical capabilities

Proven ability in effectively managing, structuring and exploiting large volumes of data for business insight

Experience developing good and robust financial control and reconciliations

Proven ability in driving change and leading projects
