The Strategic Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), Governance & Compliance Lead is responsible for providing leadership, governance and best practice thinking regarding strategic supplier relationship management (SSRM) at Legal and General for Group / GPSM scope to ensure alignment with the developing GPSM vision and strategy and SSRM best practice.
The role holder will build and maintain SSRM frameworks, leveraging SSRM best practice, new technologies and wider thinking to proactively ensure governance and that supplier risk is appropriately managed. This will also be balanced against building out world class strategic relationships and partnerships with Legal and General GPSM in scope suppliers.
Own the GPSM elements of the OESS (Outsourcing) policy and SSRM governance and management material/handbooks/policies. Be aware of applicable risks in the supply chain and address /update accordingly.
Own and drive the digital strategy and adoption levels within SSRM activity within GPSM and the wider business, including the removal/reduction of transactional SRM activities through process development and the leverage of new digital tools and processes.
Challenge thinking and develop the SSRM model, metrics and deliverables to build and maintain appropriate SSRM framework, KPI`s and operating model to underpin best practice, and ensure, supplier engagement and governance.
Create and pro-actively lead a centre of excellence for SSRM activity within L&G. Engage with business units, Procurement Centres and L&G Risk teams to ensure consistency of approach and best practice thinking.
Ensure CSR, Environmental and Modern Slavery issues and risks are suitably mitigated, managed and addressed. Provide thought leadership to the wider group and business units in relation to supply chain scope.
In all situations where suppliers provide goods and services directly to our external customers, ensure that GPSM in scope supplier relationships are managed in line with Legal & General’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly Policy as applicable.
Lead and manage a team of 3 x GPSM SSRM`s and take the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.
- Skills Required
Degree / MCIPs / IACCM ideal but not essential or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience and deliverables working at this level / scope.
Awareness of appropriate regulatory requirements in relation to supplier management
Strategic Supplier Relationship Management & Contract Management
Finance (business cases, contract commercial modeling.)
Change management experience and skills
Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills

Creative and innovation focused
Comprehensive experience of managing strategic key supplier relationships and well as leading strategic supplier management teams
Experience of setting up and developing supplier management frameworks, policies and tools and developing best practice and continuous improvement.
