Legal and General are currently going through some exciting group wide growth and to support this the central Group Procurement function (GPSM) are deploying their new five year Vision and Strategy.  To underpin this innovative and progressive strategy, the latest Procurement & SRM tools have been sourced and are being deployed to drive digital procurement and the central team is being enhanced to bring the vision and strategy to life and build a stronger team to provide greater Procurement & SRM leadership to the business

To provide proactive Procurement engagement on material, strategic and special procurement projects, some which may be critical long-term arrangements and some one-off requirements which do not sit within a standard procurement category including high-profile initiatives, mergers and acquisition activity, business growth, sale of business areas and management of procurement related regulatory or legal legislative changes, supporting the Strategic Initiatives and Special Projects lead.  The role will carry out all elements of procurement and project related business partnering and supporting activities.

Deliver strategic Procurement / Project related activity to support material / special projects as required (RFP`s, RFI`s, commercial and contractual negotiations, securing approvals etc)

Support applicable project related GPSM Business Partnering activities and engage with key business stakeholders across L&G to identify and progress material special projects.

Carry out all aspects of the Procurement cycle in relation to special projects as required, including contract negotiations and drafting.

Leverage Digital tools when completing key procurement / project tasks.

In all situations where suppliers provide goods and services directly to our external customers, ensure that procurement activity and supplier relationships, in GPSM scope,  are managed in line with Legal & General’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly Policy. 

Skills

MCIPS – Desirable

Experience of proactively managing supplier sourcing requirements and working on major material, special projects.

Experience of successfully influencing senior business stakeholders and subject matter experts through effective engagement and articulation of procurement strategies.

Project Management experience from a procurement perspective

Setting & delivering procurement strategies, supplier selection, agreeing cost and price models that demonstrate value creation, conducting complex negotiations and negotiating legally binding contracts on behalf of L&G. 

Specific experience of procurement of group wide categories and engagement on major material special projects.

Experience of working in a best practice procurement environment.

Procurement & Outsourcing:-

A thorough understanding of procurement tools and techniques relevant to group wide categories / project scope.

Ability to select appropriate procurement strategies and procedures, manage the selection of suppliers and negotiate legally binding contracts on behalf of L&G. 

Risk Management:-

A good understanding of supply chain risk and mitigation strategies for group wide scope including legal risk, commercial risk, CSR risk, fraud risk and business continuity risk.

Knowledge and contribution to the departmental risk return. A good understanding of the legal aspects of contracting with suppliers.

Product knowledge:-

A good understanding of the group wide category scopes for L&G and detailed knowledge of the relevant supply market & best practice sourcing models.

A good understanding of the use and application of sourcing tools, spend analytic tools and Oracle purchase to pay systems.
