We're hiring a Senior Cloud Architect who will provide expertise to key projects and programmes within the LGRR division in order to meet strategic objectives and support the delivery of high quality, operable and supportable technology solutions.

Job purpose:

To provide cloud architecture expertise to key projects and programmes within the LGRR division in order to meet strategic objectives and support the delivery of high quality, operable and supportable technology solutions.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Lead the definition of public cloud-based solutions for business areas within the LGRR division.
  • Create and maintain technology roadmaps that enable desired business outcomes to be achieved.
  • Contribute to technology strategy initiatives and group-wide IT projects.
  • Implement robust architecture governance processes in conjunction with stakeholders such as Project Managers, Information Security and IT Service Management to ensure that 3rd party designs comply with L&G’s principles, standards and policies.
  • Manage architecture risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies, ensuring that significant items are escalated appropriately and in a timely manner, and the implications of technical limitations or compromises are understood.
  • Collaborate with other members of L&G’s IT community to share tools and techniques, best practices and lessons learned.
  • Work with internal teams and external organisations to evaluate new technologies and related trends in order to identify innovative solutions to business problems.
  • Design processes and systems to ensure a good level of service that means customers’ expectations are met, is consistent with what we have communicated, and is aligned to L&G’s Treating Customers Fairly policy.

Qualifications, knowledge and skills:
Desirable, but not mandatory.

  • BSc degree or similar.
  • Cloud computing certification, e.g. Azure Solutions Architect.
  • IT architecture certification, e.g. TOGAF 9 Certified.

Knowledge:

  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft Azure services.
  • Broad infrastructure knowledge, including networking, storage, databases and security.
  • Good knowledge of IT architecture frameworks, tools and techniques, including architecture governance and risk management.
  • An understanding of change management and project management disciplines.
  • An understanding of financial services products, providers, distribution models and regulators.

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical skills, i.e. collecting and analysing information, problem solving and decision making, with the ability to collaborate effectively and focus on business outcomes.
  • Expert in leading the definition of complex solutions from a technology architecture perspective.
  • Proven ability to communicate technology solutions to technical and non-technical audiences in a large decentralised organisation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully engage and influence a broad range of individuals across various internal and external businesses and support functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, adapt to change and manage a large number of tasks, requirements and decisions.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, attention to detail and a growth mindset.
