The Senior Solution Design Manager (SSDM) will manage and maintain the team of solution architects and designers required to support the Technology & Transformation change and delivery portfolio.

The Senior Solution Design Manager (SSDM) will manage and maintain the team of solution architects and designers required to support the Technology & Transformation change and delivery portfolio.

The SSDM will ensure effective solution design plans are produced while evolving methodologies and techniques to drive maximum value in the delivery of effective solution delivery.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the quality and delivery of software design solutions for the team and ensuring designs are aligned with business strategy, scaled appropriately, cost-effective and meet quality thresholds
  • Define high-level design principles and approaches, for the design team and keep abreast of developments in design methodologies, establishing best practice for the team
  • Manage a team of technical designers / solution architects and build capabilities so the team has the skills required to be successful across a variety of projects
  • Define non-functional requirements and validate functional requirements, ensuring business objectives and the technical domain are well understood
  • Design, document and effectively communicate low-level design required by delivery teams: inhouse development or third party supplier
  • Provide technical leadership to delivery teams

Qualifications:

  • Degree and/or MBA educated or demonstrable equivalent experience and capability at this level
  • Prince2, Project management and Agile qualifications - desirable but not mandatory
  • PROSCI/Adkar & change qualifications - desirable but not mandatory

 

Knowledge:

  • Regulated Industry background preference
  • Solution Design and portfolio experience with track record of effective management & reporting
  • Experience of driving and implementing consistent solution design plans across complex geographical / functional matrix organizations in line with Architecture functions and roadmaps
  • Proven track record of solution delivery of large, complex, change and technology initiatives and proven background in adapting to trends and openness to new ideas
  • Track record of building effective relationships to ensure approved agreed delivery plans

 

Leadership:

  • Ensuring solution design delivery confidence across all levels with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently focusing on priorities, and managing a high-volume of tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions
  • Collaborative worker who freely shares their knowledge and experience with good influencing skills, ability to develop and mentor individuals
  • Develop, get buy-in and deliver approaches across the organisation and wider division and track record of building effective relationships
  • Effective at making good decisions and delivering great outcomes in in line with business strategy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully engage and influence a broad range of individuals across various internal and external businesses and support functions
